I've been after doing something a little different from the normal musician portrait shots for a while now so when my friend Wayne said he was game we decided to have a mess about to see what we could get.
We used 4 flash units for this shot, main light (snoot), above the drum kit with the fill light directly below the camera and the remaining lights were set either side of Wayne (set to multi flash).
Still need to refine the set-up but for our first attempt at using strobes I'm more than happy with the results ;)

well you have some things to try for the next style like this, maybe smashing a guitar ;) i seldom use rear curtain but it has payed off a few times!

Not really. We got the 4 light set-up quite quickly, just took a while to decide to switch the rear units to pulse. About 3 hours from start to finish. :)
