The worst drought in 60 years in the Horn of Africa has sparked a severe food crisis and high malnutrition rates... Even if the rains were to start immediately, for many regions affected by this drought there is no likelihood of improvement until 2012. Food prices have also risen substantially in the region, pushing many moderately poor households over the edge. Save the Children staff working in Kenya’s largest refugee camp says hundreds of children are arriving daily from Somalia exhausted, malnourished and dehydrated.
In case you were wondering if there is any way to help, one of the biggest obstacles is money, so every dollar would help and The Humanitarian Coalition knows just what to to do with it. http://humanitariancoalition.ca/index.php/site/pastAppeals/
