- OMFG ALL MY OLD FILES BACK
Does anyone remember this old header I had up on my old old old Shadowness page? Oh the memories...
Well anyways, my dad still had my old Dell Inspirion laptop that had all my old 3d files such as my starwars droid, vertical limit, rotogin bot...basically all the best 3d models I've produced so far. Recently, an alumni of my college told me that if I can get a demo reel put together, he'll show it to his director and I may be able to work at Curious Pictures this summer as an intern. So lately I've been busting my ace working on 3D (i should post some of them) so I can put it in my reel. However, I realized that yes the laptop was dead, but the hard drive wasn't! So today i picked up an enclosure thing and took out the HD and WOW MY OLD FILES OMFGOMFGOMFG!!!! This is better than any holidays combined (ok no not really, I'm just super excited)
But for reals, opening up my old rotogin 3d file was like...magic? And all my old pictures that I thought I would never see again.
But I think what was more important was that I realized that I don't have that same enthusiasm and drive for 3D as I used to. Opening up some of these old files that I never posted up on SN or DA are just...really impressive looking and it really made me realize that I need to get back in the game more. I guess I was way more enthusiastic about modeling before I really learned what I was doing or how to properly model things. Its a funny feeling but now that I think about it, I think this now gives me the push that I need to move on. I've been stuck in a rut for a few years along with the pressures of school, parents, boyfriends, etc etc. so its about time I break out of this.
Anyways, to end this super giddy /serious realization entry, I need to shape up. Its been a few years since I've produced a worthwhile model and though I don't feel like I have the same motivation as I used to, I need to start pushing myself again.
the end. how was everyones xmas?

Thats something I'm working on for my portfolio/Literature and Writing class assignment. I have to redo a cover for Pride and Prejudice, so I decided to do something a bit more modern looking instead of those old paintings they usually have for the cover of that book. Yay for illustrator and the pen tool hahaha. I feel like I'm constantly being crunched for time for most of my assignments these days especially with finals coming up very very very soon :'( ahhhhh need coffeeeeee
Life's been a bit on the dramatic side for me lately. Mostly involving family though, college life isn't dramatic at all (thank goodness). I went home for Thanksgiving and it ends up that my mother breaks my laptop so I ended up rushing back to NYC to drop my laptop off at the Apple store on 5th ave. I will say that Apple has pretty good customer service. I dropped my laptop off at 9pm and it was fixed and ready to be picked up around 4pm the next day. I was thrilled to get it back so early because I was having a serious panic attack. However, since my hard drive failed I didn't end up getting files off that computer :( A lot of important files i was working on are lost but its ok, I guess its good to have a fresh start.
But on the bright side, my friends from high school came to visit me last Wednesday! I was so happy to see them!!!! You'd think that college might change people, but it really doesn't LOL! :DDDDD
I'm going to be 19 really soon. It's scary how quickly time goes by O_O

- Halloween, College, etc
Has anyone seen this costume floating around the net from this year's Halloween parade in New York City??? Its been on the front page of Digg.com and its also been all over CollegeHumor.com. Believe it or not, I'm friends with the guy who made this costume! He's in my classes and he's really cool to hang out with. The costume is BioShock from that Xbox360 game. CollegeHumor.com also interviewed him yesterday about his costume:
Seriously though, people commenting on that site are jackasses
Anyways...
So art school/college whatever you want to call it has been awesome so far! I love all my classes, and even though I'm constantly worrying about keeping my GPA up, I'm having a blast. The workload so far has had its ups and downs. Some weeks i have a very small amount while other weeks are just overwhelming with assignments to complete. For example, I had to repaint the Mona Lisa in black and white. That was definitely my weekend in hell.
But regardless, I’m getting myself back on this site after a long absence from the summer!

- Montreal -40 by Malajube and My Current Job Situation...
Has anyone heard of the group Malajube? They sing the song Montreal -40 and even though they're singing in a totally different language and I honestly don't understand a word they're saying, the song is sooo catchy! And not only that, I love the music video, its sooo cute!
Ok, so in other news, I'm still searching for a job!! Geez, my friend Nick and I went job hunting AGAIN on Friday and we both applied to work at this restaurant. Nick and I have searched on craigslist.com and we've found that there are places looking for people to hire, but they aren't interested in seasonal workers. They don't want to give out summer jobs, which is such a pain in the butt because there are barely any places taking people for just summer jobs.
HOWEVER, I used to attend this art camp where I eventually became a CIT (counselor-in-training) teaching Photoshop and Cinema 4D to campers in the Computer Shop. I recently received an email from the current Computer Shop Head asking if I'd go back and teach digital art this summer as a Junior Counselor, meaning I'd actually get paid for the job unlike when I was a CIT. I'm not sure whether or not I want to take this job. Granted, they are asking me to come back, but if I do go back its going to throw my summer plans off quite a bit. If I go back there and work, I'm going to have to live on the camp premises, meaning that I will only have about 2.5 weeks to get all my driving stuff done before I'd have to pack up and move into my cabin. That also means that I won't be able to hang out with Nick that much since I'd be at camp (which is ironically located 2 minutes away from the boarding school Nick and I attended) which will kind of suck because I won't be seeing him during my school year since he's still stuck at my old school while I'm in college. Another issue is that I know that I'm not going to get paid that much. I'm going to be living on the camp's premises as well as eating food that the camp prepares which will be taken out of my salary and I also have acces to any of the art facilities at the camp which will also be another deduction. Oiiiii, which means that I'm really not getting paid much at all.
Ick, I'm not sure whether or not should continue to search for a job around my town or just take the job that's been offered to me but not get paid as much as I would if I'd taken a normal job. BLAHHHHHHHHHH

well I'm not sure if that helped :( but good luck with the job situation! personally, I think you can do a lot better than the camp thingie. for meee. I don't like to be in a rush for anything (which is not always good cause it's not burger king I can't alwys have it MY WAY) -.- I'm sure you'll find a job in town, then you'd be able to visit your friends. have you checked with school? sometimes they have diff places of internship (that actually pays). My friend found a internship at JPL over the summer and they're paying. ooo, and if you're fluent or speak some japanese, you can always find a lil shop they'd appreciate your bi-lingual-ness.
Rinn, it's your totally free summer! no summer reading, no homework, just time to relax! travel! see new people! places!!! -
Fuse Heh, I'm having a similar problem, only that I haven't found anything at All.
Jun 12th, 2007
I personally would take the job at the camp because it' involves something you clearly like to do. :)
And nice song yeah ^^
Ps. I hope you don'tmind that a totally random person storms into your journal and spams it :P
Ps. Ps. I would even if you did mind.

- My New Gadget, the Nikon D80!!
My newest gadget this summer is the Nikon D80! It just arrived today in the mail and I LOVE it! The color quality is amazing not to mention the fact that the shutter speed is great. The camera isn't too heavy either, which I like a lot since I have pretty weak wrists and holding an ultra heavy camera will definitely give me wrist aches later. The D80 is pretty easy to use as well and the quick start manual is really easy to understand. I'm in love with this camera!
If you want to see examples, I'm going to upload some of the photos I take into an album :)

- Movies and More
Has anyone seen the movie Step Up? The storyline is a bit cliche, but its about this teenage boy, Tyler, who helps out this girl, Nora, with her senior showcase recital by rehearsing with her until her injured dance parter recovers. Tyler is from Hamden which is poor side of town while Nora is from the rich side of town. Low and behold, they fall in love with each other during the time they rehearse together.
Ok, anyways, to get to my point, the actor Channing Tatum who plays Tyler is H-O-T-TTTTTTT!!! This is very odd considering the fact that I normally don't go gaga over actors and I usually tease my friends who go crazy over "hott" guys like Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. But wow, I think I spent more time drooling over him instead of really paying attention to the storyline. Honestly, he reminds me of my ex, so I'm guessing I have something for hott guys with crew cuts? Hahahaha, anyways...
I'm redoing drivers ed driving hours because I couldn't complete it junior year due to all the hours I had to devote to Yearbook, art proctoring, blah blah blah. So w00t, I got driving hours tomorrow and the day after. Hopefully this will go by quickly because I can drive but what I really need to learn is how to properly parallel park. I'm aiming to take the drivers license test by the end of this month hopefully *crosses fingers*. I feel a bit guilty for always asking my friends to give me rides, hehe.
Oh yeah, and I'm SO BROKE AND I NEED A JOB!!! Seriously!! I'm running out of cash like crazy! I went to the mall with my friend Nick a few days ago, and I applied to a couple stores. The manager at Forever 21 told me I'll most likely get a call soon because they need cashier in the store. Victoria's Secret Body basically said the same thing as well. However, since these stores are not exactly walking distance from my house, I'm aiming to work at the CVS downtown since I won't have to work around my mom's schedule to get rides and I'll just walk home at the end of the day. While I was applying on the little computer in the back of CVS, one of the ladies working at the beauty section of CVS asked if I'd apply to be on the beauty center crew since they needed on more crew member in that section of the store. So ideally, I'm hoping I get that job. I gotta wait a few more days until I get a phone call. I'm soooo anxious to get a job. My friends and I have planned to take a field trip down to White Castle. They insisted that I had to go with them since I have never been to White Castle before and apparently its heaven compared to McDonalds? And then afterwards they want to go to Six Flags Amusment Park, which costs about $60 per ticket I think? Oh boy, thats a lot of $$ right there on top of train fair or gas depending on what mode of transporation we're using. Geez, I need a job badly @_@

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I'm lucky I didn't end up at the police station this weekend. Gawd, my friends have gotten me into more problems than I need.

- Dance Dance Revolution!
So is anyone here a DDR fanatic?! I am totally and completely addicted to this game! Not only is it a great workout, but its so much fun to play! If you haven't tried out this game already, I HIGHLY recommend you to do so. Its great for people like me who need to burn energy really badly or else I'll be restless for most of the day.
So anyways for those who don't know, DDR is a game for most videogame platforms including Playstation and XBOX. I'm not sure if DDR is available for any Nintendo consoles...As of right now, I'm playing Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix, and Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 3. Personally, I prefer the original Ultramix because there more Japanese techno, which I like a lot. Beforu is one of the techno groups featured in the game and they are a great female Japanese techno group with awesome songs. My favorite song of their is Dive (it's currently my cellphone ringtone too haha). Ultramix 3 on the other hand, has songs like Virtual Insanity by Jamariqui, Hey Mama by the Black Eyed Peas, and I Just Wanna Live by Good Charlotte. Not much Japanese female techno though :/
So to sum up this random journal entry, if you haven't gotten your hands on DDR yet, you're missing out on a TON OF FUNNNNN!!! XDDDDDD

7Shadows I love dance dance revolution. It's so much fun and a good exercise. But I've been looking forever for an affordable way to get it at home!
Jun 1st, 2007 -
Sophat Yeah DDR is really cool. If you want to play at home, get StepMania for PC. You can download songs and even make your own dance steps. I know a place you can buy a soft 1-inch thick dancing pad for 40 bucks. (I have two xD) Really good quality considering the price. My bro (much better than me) manages to dance on really fast songs like Max 300 and he likes the pad. So I recommend it to anyone who wants to play at home and doesn't want to invest too much money.

- Goodbye Highschool, Hello Art School
So yes, it finally happened. I've officially graduated from high school!!! My graduation was Tuesday and it was very bittersweet. Honestly, I'm ecstatic to finally be out of high school, but at the same time, it was so hard to say goodbye to all my friends. I thought that I would cry during graduation, but it ended up that I cry the minute I get in the car and start leaving campus. All of my friends are going to be in different areas. Luckily, most of my friends are staying on the east coast except for one of my friends who is attending Pitzer College in California and my other friend who is from Sweden and another from Spain. I'm going to miss both of them so much! With all of my friends, I saw them everyday during breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as hanging out after dinner and after late night study hall. I guess thats the difference between boarding school and a normal high school. I practically live with all my friends and they've become family to me. I wish I could take all of them with me to college!! But overall, the whole experience was nice. It was really nice to see my Mom look like she was actually proud of something I did.
Looking back at my senior year this year, a lot of has happened. I've learned a lot about myself as well as my friends and the people around me. My friends and I have grown closer than ever and I definitely socialized more this year since I was admitted into college very early. But the biggest learning experience was from my "love life" this year. I dated a Caucasian boy (mind you, the first non Asian I've dated) for four months and had the WORST post breakup experience with him. I have never been in a situation like this, and honestly, I hope something like this won't happen again. Thanks to my friends, I was able to make it through that experience without losing my mind. Boys...can't live with them, can't live without them lol.
So despite how depressing it has been to graduate from my school, I'm excited for what the future holds! I got into my first choice art school and I got merit scholarship on top of it! I have never EVER gotten scholarship or anything of the sort in my life, I was incredibly shocked when I got the letter. On top of it, one of my friends from high school is also going to be attending the same art school so at least I'll know someone there. Either way, I'm excited!
So my plans for this summer? I was trying to get a job but I'm still jobless. My mother is bugging me about it constantly. In the town I live in, its hard for teenagers to get part time summer jobs since most of the teens who are working have been working at the store after school since the beginning of the school year. So right now, I just want to get back to my digital art since I took a loooong break from it due to all my art class assignments and my classes that sucked up all my time and energy. One of my goals will be to get in shape. And I need to get my pudgy puppy into shape as well hehehe.
