  Aw!!! Things will pick up eventually! I find generally though that the only way to get your art noticed is to go out and comment on other people's and get dialogues going and EVEN THEN it's tough. Are you on deviantART? You may have more success there since there are such strong fractal communities there and people are always looking forward to new artists! :D
