The new version is amazing. Easy to use, new smart filters, and the layout is simple and use less space for every pallet and tool box. It runs awesome on vista. But i wish i was running it on os x tho :(

i'd say about 5-10 depending on how many elements are involved in the painting. i usually merge them together pretty fast to avoid confusion though =P

paint brushes, lighten, burn tool, sponge, pen tool, smudge, clone... that's the tools for painting/photo manip.

also love the fade feature for the brush. sharpen/blur to arrange. hue-saturation and levels sometimes, but i prefer going with the tools except for colors.

I use it but really, I just use all the features CS2 had. That is not to say, however, that CS3's new features aren't amazing... it's just, I have no real use for them. :)

Levels + blend modes + the paintbrush and eraser tools :D! I actually really love the smudge, pen, and Gaussian blur features as well. These are definitely things I cannot live without.
