This is an entry for the CG society Dreamscape Challenge. Immediately fell in love with the theme.
Done in Photoshop.
Every once in a while a new place pops up in my head when I daydream. This is one of them. I love using the color orange and purple, because they complements each other so well. For this particular scene I wanted desperately to capture the thick layer of leaves on the ground; I wanted to make it appear soft and cushion-y even. Second focal point is the top most point near the sun. The transparent quality of the leaves was actually quite easy to understand once you get the hang of playing with saturation of the colors.
Practice, practice, practice. You always learn something new even if you are doing the same thing twice.
