My name is Rick Corbett. I am a graphite and colored pencil portrait artist. I am a self-taught artist. I am also a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired by people, textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. My drawings take me on an artistic journey of self discovery. I feel my soul awaken when I draw. GOD has given me a gift and it's a gift I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's a gift I hope to use to capture the beauty that's in this World. I don't want my drawings to simply be pictures drawn on pieces of paper - I want my drawings to be a celebration of life. My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. People trul inspire me. I love to learn about people, I love to learn backgrounds, traditions, and cultures. I think this is why I became a portrait artist, it just seemed natural to me. I believe that every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. I thank GOD everyday for the gift HE has given me. It's a gift that I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's one I hope to bring everyone's inner beauty out. It's one that I hope to make us all learn something about ourselves. It's a gift I hope that will bring a smile to someone's face or bring joy in someone's life.

Well I remain one of the most senior artists on Shadowness having been with the site pretty much since its birth, from starting out small to growing bigger everyday. I have met loads of fantastic people on here and continue to do so on a daily basis, if you wish to become a friend just add me its that simple :) I hail from the UK where its very wet at the moment but that doesn't change much, I'm 27 and a Senior Designer for a Web Design and Development firm in the Midlands. I don't always have a comment -- but by fav'ing your work, I'm clearly stating that I love it. :D Secondly, Yes I did consider putting a bunch of gobbledygook here about who I am, what my inspirations are, my mediums, my shows and my awards -- Wouldn't it just be easier and less irritating to visit my website instead? I've got a lot more work there, plenty of information about me and mine, as well as information about how you can own some. :)

Aug 22ndA large part of my work makes reference and is influenced by the transition from analogue to digital. Using old type sets, type writer keys, analogue numbers, analogue timepieces (clock faces) etc. to represent the analogue era. The digital era suggested with computer keys, calculator buttons phone buttons, etc.

I have a BFA in Fine Art from the University of Hawaii where I studied Polynesian art history. I love travel, and culture, and cheesecakes. Apr 8th, 2011Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.
