I can't paint, so achieving this result took me several days. Not to mention the many changes the work went through, as I was not too sure of the final scene I was going to create. I just knew that the model was the inspiration for a magnificent Vampire Regent...
I will later upload at my WIP's folder the different screenshots of the changes. Sometimes it's fun to see!

Those are PS brushes :) .... You just select one and paste it. I can't draw (at all)... works like this one can take me months and months to finish :))) So glad you liked it.
Mar 24th, 2012 Replyshackledfae
well worth the effort and time!
Mar 24th, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
It was fun. But lately I'm not very inspired... maybe because I work hard and am a little tired all the time
- Anyway, now and then something lights up and I come up with something :)
Mar 27th, 2012 Replyshackledfae
I know the feeling! It is very hard to be inspired when your tired. Here I sit looking at a pile of wire and beads, and nothing comes to mind!

You should make an owl!

It looks wonderful and I have to agree with /Surehuinel on this one

It's so good to get critique to improve. You know that I don't always understand the English terms, so it happened with "you have your middle tones you miss the 2 edges". I asked her to explain further if she has time, as well as on how to improve the eye color changes!
Feb 21st, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
I'm trying to figure what she explained on her further comment... Is it about gradient shadows?? (confused) :)
Mar 3rd, 2012 ReplyJurgenDoe
To be hones I don't understand it either with the squares .. best thing is always use the photograph as example .. in her face you see how the light fell on her face and creates some shadows .. try to get this done like it is in the photo .. you always can use the burn tool or a light darker green and set the opacity to 25 % and paint carefully some darker tones where the shadow should be
Mar 3rd, 2012 Reply SubscriberManwathiell
Indeed... I will try to study the original face better and try to reproduce the shadows. It shouldn't be too difficult. However, the most important thing here is that I learned to pay attention to such details!! I am so thankful to Surehuinel and to you for pointing at this!!
Mar 3rd, 2012 ReplyThank you very much!!!
JurgenDoe
You see the left side of her face has some lighter effects .. use the dodge tool and set the opacity to 10 - 15 % and try to get the highlights done like in the photo .. even the hair .. hair inside is always darker where no light falls so try to add there some shadows too to give it a more natural look .. the painting of the hair is marvelous .. but always look photos and see how natural hair looks ..
Mar 3rd, 2012 Reply SubscriberManwathiell
You are very right. If you had not pointed that out, I would probably have improved the face only. Now I'll look at the whole and it will help me 'remember" PS. I've done nothing for a long while. Besides, since I changed from PS3 to PS5... I need to learn many things! This will be a great exercise !
Mar 3rd, 2012 ReplyJurgenDoe
CS5 is much better and you can even do now 3D work
.. I always pay lots of attention to light and shadows .. it's already in my blood
.. but I'm still learning too

Mar 3rd, 2012 Reply Subscriberhere I played a bit in PS for 3 minutes .. on the right you see I added some highlights and shadows .. just using the dodge and burn tool
Manwathiell
I saved it!! Impressive...
- I need to make me some time to play with the original
Mar 5th, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
And that is for sure not in my blood
Mar 5th, 2012 ReplyJurgenDoe
it's just a few steps you have to do .. nothing much .. you don't need much time for it
Mar 5th, 2012 Reply SubscriberManwathiell
This weekend I will work on it. I hope!
- you have no clue how I long to create something new...
Mar 5th, 2012 ReplyJurgenDoe

It looks good. You are missing some basic light and shadow on the skin ..take a look at the original there is a darker and lighter place on the face ..you have your middle tones you miss the 2 edges. There are plenty of ways to change the color of the eyes so they can look natural. The hair is good a lot of people have trouble with that !!
Feb 20th, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
I never thought of comparing the light and shadows on the original ... that's a good idea !! What does it mean: you have your middle tones you miss the 2 edges? (I apologize because I'm not sure if I'm missing the sides of the face or what
).
Feb 21st, 2012 ReplyWhere can I find other ways to change the color of the eyes ? (If you happen to know about tutorials or anything, I'd be happy to learn further!)
Thank you VERY much for your comments !!!
Surehuinel
2 edges the darker tones and the lighter tones ....Try this at home make 7 squares with a pencil , leave the 7th white (empty) and the first paint it as black as you can with your pencil then go to the middle square and try to find the middle tone ....After that take the middle and the 1st and try to find the second then the third the same way for the lighter tones ..That way you will see how shadow and light works...The color of the eyes are very easy to change ..There are plenty of tutorials on youtube and I can give you a link to one of my own ....http://sta.sh/018eazea0ply
Feb 23rd, 2012 ReplySurehuinel
ammm go on Devianart and paste this on the url
Feb 23rd, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
Oh, dear Surehuinel, I am afraid that I still don't understand what you're trying to explain with the 7 squares... I read it 3 times and can't get it. I'm a lost case, I guess.... I think it might have something to do with a gradient from white to black? I'm so embarrassed that I don't get what you mean, because it certainly could teach me something!!!
Mar 3rd, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
I did !!! And I downloaded that and I will try it!!!
Mar 3rd, 2012 ReplySurehuinel
Yes think of it as gradient !!!Good fix it and lets see what you made :D
Mar 5th, 2012 ReplyManwathiell
This weekend I'll find some time to work on that
