The Blood Moon is the Full Moon seen in September, and it represents the connection between the Moon"s energy and the balancing nature of Libra. The Blood Moon sees the herd slaughtered and thinned to provide provisions for the coming Winter. As life grows so shall it wither and this manifestation of the moon should be reflected in the Blood Moon Esbat ritual. Without the deadly closure of the Reaper"s Harvest, we cannot begin a new cycle as nature dictates. Use the Blood Moon"s balancing energy to even out unwanted extremes and make preparations for hard times. The time to begin is before circumstances become desperate, not after.

In October, we see the Blood Moon travel through the sky. This moon is also called the Shedding Moon or the Falling Leaf Moon. Coming right before Samhain, this is the time when the veil between our world and the spirit world are at its thinnest.
