HillbillyDeluxe
Yes. Most people here do not have a practiced signature like we do.
Oct 17th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
i dont know but i would prefer my own signature written with my hand ...that is too much impersonal for me to use some stamps...its like for robots :) ...i have .never known they use stamps :)
Oct 18th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
I prefer my signature as well. Anyone could steal my stamp and become me if they wanted. I find it a bit too dangerous.
Oct 18th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
yes that is another reason why not to use it. and does it happen often that someone steals the stemp and use it? or is there any protection for it?
Oct 19th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
I have heard of wives closing out their husband's bank account and running away, but I'm not sure if those stories are true.
Oct 19th Reply C'mon Pookie...The stamps have to be registered and I'm sure the important company stamps are kept in a safe place. There are also experts that can analyze the stamps to make sure they are authentic or fake. Seems like a bit of tradition that could be done away with. A written signature, in either Western script or Japanese characters, seems to be a little more convenient in my mind.
Lucifer
i think people i japan think twice before they go and steal something :) its very strict country in my opinion....well dont know ..i have never been there.
Oct 19th Reply who wants a hug?on the other hand stamps have one advantage ...the signature is always the same :D when i write my signature then its different every time i do it :D
HillbillyDeluxe
Yes, people tend to return things to their owners here more than back home. I've heard stories of people forgetting bags on trains and nobody touches them. The bags wind up in the station master's lost and found and most people recover their belongings without losing a single thing.

Oct 19th Reply C'mon Pookie...Of course people do steal things here...the Japanese are just as human as the rest of the world but they tend to go for cash or jewelry in my observations here.
lol...my signature is always different too but the way we sign it can be measured and that's what counts.
The stamps are beautiful and ornate but not practical for me in daily life. My signature travels with me constantly and I never lose it!
Lucifer
i wish i could say the same about Czech beause here people steal everything XD i am sorry i say this but its true :D people are greedy and jealous, envy each other... but i guess it was always like this :) people dont change :)
Oct 19th Reply who wants a hug?one day when you leave Japan you will have at least nice thing to remind you that country :)
HillbillyDeluxe
People are greedy and jealous over here too. Just look at the national government and that will explain everything.
Oct 19th Reply C'mon Pookie...I don't know why but people just tend to return things here...it's a good point for sure.
Lucifer
well it must be something inside them to be honest people...education, thinking, strict rules...fear? its quite interesting for me. would be worth to study behavior of people in Japan
are you willing to be experimental rabbit? XD hahahaha
Oct 20th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
I'm putting my money on fear....fear of shame.
Oct 21st Reply C'mon Pookie...I've been an experimental rabbit for too long now. XD
Lucifer
you have been experimental rabbit? and with what experiments?
XD
Oct 21st Reply who wants a hug?i wont torture you
HillbillyDeluxe
Nothing really...just how long a Canadian can stay sane living in rural Japan. So far it's been 18 years...
Oct 23rd Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
ohh yes thats not easy at all :) but on the other hand there must be something what holds you to stay in Japan for so long :)
Oct 23rd Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
Yes...but haven't figured out what it is yet....
Oct 23rd Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
hahahahahaa
Oct 23rd Reply who wants a hug?i think that if you didnt find out yet whats that "something" holding you there you will never get answer :) BUT i am sure you love it there because if you didnt you wouldnt go and didnt take pics as your memories
HillbillyDeluxe
I'm not sure really....I just like walking around with my camera. I would love to find a new place to walk around.
Oct 23rd Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
and is it so big problem to find some new place there? or do you mean another country? :)
Oct 23rd Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
I think I mean another country...somewhere in Europe to be precise. But that is still a little way off in the future. I will just have to sit here for now and be content.
Oct 23rd Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
and again ...you surprised me :) i would expect you will want to go back to Canada. why europe?
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
The proximity to so many different cultures, the food, the beer and last, but not least, the people! The whole package really appeals to me. Why did I surprise you?
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
because if i moved to another country and missed place where i was born...i would love to go back there. i wouldnt think about moving to another country again :)
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?maybe its just your nature to know new places, different cultures and people of course....its inside you. free just like bird :D or no? you tell me :)
HillbillyDeluxe
I'm not sure...
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...I do miss the shared cultural knowledge that I have with fellow Canadians (and Americans for that matter.) The ability to speak and be heard in matters of the community and how I will be governed. I miss my basic right to vote. I miss poutine, Timbits and double-doubles. I miss women who think for themselves and don't kowtow to men. I guess I miss a lot of things from back home but I still don't think I'll go back....at least not right now.
I have only been to Europe a few times but every time I go, I feel a bond growing stronger and a sense that I could fit in there. It's magnetic and pulling me closer.
Lucifer
i am sure when its the right time you will have the feeling you want to go back to Canada :) i know its something what can not be forced :) and yes you would fit in here perfectly if you came :D we all are crazy here XD
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
That's what I've heard. AND you seem to have a lust for life. Life is to be lived, not chained to a desk. When I visited there seemed to be a balance between family, work and leisure. I was envious because over here, it is all work and very little play. Makes Tom a dull boy...
I shouldn't complain, the Japanese themselves have it even harder. :omg
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
yes i love to live :) and i am trying to see world and people different way. everything what i can see, hear, smell, feel...touch ...is interesting for me. i need to see "inside" the things and i love thinking about everything because then it opens you next door and you can see much more than before :) life can offer much more than most of people know or think :)
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
I wish a few more people in the world would think like that. But a lot of people seem to be caught up in the daily routine and chasing money or buying the next new thing...honestly...a lot of people just need to step back and take a breath. It would help a lot.
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
i know Tom and i wish the same but most of people must earn money to survive and dont think about anything else. its not only fault of "people" but its fault of system we have here. people are slaves and if they want to have little freedom then its bad and they are judged by others.
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?HillbillyDeluxe
Yes...capitalism as we know it is not a good system. Too many poor people and too many slaves. I guess we can only change our own situation and hopefully that will influence others to change as well.
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...Lucifer
revolution :D
Oct 24th Reply who wants a hug?maybe its sad bit i dont believe much that we can change it :) we can just make us our own little world where we will have all what we wish ...thats what i do all my life :) i like to have my own rules and i am Aquarius so for me its very hard to listen to others :D
HillbillyDeluxe
The revolution is coming. We are due for one but I don't think it will be violent like the revolutions before us.
It's a good thing. I'm a Gemini so quite often I am going in two directions at once!
That's not a good thing...
Oct 24th Reply C'mon Pookie...And you just explained a lot with the statement "I am Aquarius".
Lucifer
