My name is Hayley, and personally, that's enough that needs to be said about my name, I assume. I'm an artist who is inspired by many things, but mostly, I am inspired by the Spirit. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and that will NEVER change. In many of my pieces, there will be an attempt to show the spiritual side to an event or maybe even a prayer I just want to synthesize in to something that can be seen in a different way. I'm an artist who varies what materials I use, and I have fun with that. I am not a fan of charcoal, and have an appreciation for the artists who can use it. Maybe one day, I'll be able to find my way to use it as well. In some of my pieces, you will find my symbolism to be very direct. For most artists, this is a limitation. For me, however, it is a pro rather than a con. To leave open the meaning of a piece is to take away its meaning, in many senses. Therefore, if I want to say something through art that is strong, I will attempt as much as possible to make it easy to relate to most of the time, but that doesn't mean it won't be direct. This is not usually an attractive quality in the art world, but this is where we need a revolution, non? Art is not something that should be judged with so many rules as it is. It is something that should be left to the artist to choose how they will portray something, rather than to taint their vision with the vision of others, just because it is the "fad" of the art world. It is fine to use the methods that are popular if they are you- if not, I believe it best to go on about how you feel something should be shown, rather than to change your art. Growing is not a matter of conforming into these popularized methods, it is a matter of finding yourself, not being open. One is far more likely to lose yourself in the process. Now, that does not mean not to study other artists. One should take the time to look at other art, and if they like the features in the art, to use them. However, I don't feel that it is right to open your mind to thinking that their style- or concept- is truth, which is what many people choose to do. If one chooses to believe something, they must test it as what it is. Take art for what it is- an expression. It is not a contest. It is not a ranking process. It is merely the thoughts or feelings of another, but not always of the one who creates it. This is why my pieces are direct. This is why I choose the style I do. This is my explanation, and one should take it as stated, and try not to probe into it very much, for it has more reasoning behind it than is said, mostly in a spiritual sense. I will not leave my pieces open to twisting or interpretation, as it would change drastically the truth of which I have found to be fact. Therefore, I challenge everyone who sees the pieces to take them, learn their concept, and test it.

Daydreaming, gigs, travel, randomness, hats, new places, new faces, dressing up, dressing down, sleep, long walks, new bands, planes, holding hands, magazines, the smell of fresh coffee, hard rain against a window, huge earrings, unplanned nights, Anna Sui perfume, Colorado, long summer nights, G&T, thunder storms, my ipod, unexpected hugs, aquariums, yellow roses, being brunette, sundays, photographs, dancing, festivals, big sunglasses, seeing someone after a long time, animation, memories, fresh cool bed sheets, letters, laughing til my sides ache. I am a 25 year old multi-media designer living in Aberdeen, Scotland. What inspires me is the side of an individual that others may not see. My work portrays stark contrasts to the original exterior and personality of my subjects. My ideas are sparked from the bone structure, eyes and body language of the individual. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Visual Communication, In 2005 I was nominated for the Scottish Outstanding design student of the year and in 2006 I won a BP design award for animation.

Getting my BS Degree in Animation at Huntington University in Indiana. Studying 2D animation including lots of anime, hence the influence in my works. Leaving Industrial Design at DAAP in Cincinnati to focus on what I really want to do. Been drawing all my life. My tools are pens, mechanical pencils, brush pens, and a light table. All of my work is original work, non-traced, non-copied, even if it is a popular character. 50% of my work is life drawing and the rest is concept art, anime art, etc. Character design is what I enjoy. I also play acoustic guitar, upright bass, and electric bass now for a combined 18 years. I love to just chill and play...create a random ambient tune.

I'm 20 years old and I live in Bremen. I've started with webdesign and digital art in december 2001. My first projects were fan-hompages of different comics. That issue was bored after 3 month. But for this reason I've got my new fevour: the digital art. In the Year 2004 I've started with Kevin D. Reeves and Tobias H. the project GFX Force. But it was a flop and therefore we've closed the project after 6 month. I've worked hard for the school in the years 2005 / 2006, therefore I've stopped to design some digital things. The result was my high school graduation in economics. I start my apprenticeship in summer 2006 until today.

Photography and Graphic Design are only hobbies of mine that I have always expressed interest in, but have only recently been able to start exploring. I use a variety of cameras for photography. These include both point-and-shoot cameras, SLRs, and D-SLRs. I do not modify any of my photos with Photoshop (except for tagging my name to them) unless they are in an album that specifically states so. Nothing against those who do, I just think it takes more skill and is more satisfying if a picture is unmodified by a third party program and is shown off in an "as taken" state. Cameras I currently own: Canon Powershot A520 (Point-&-Shoot) Canon EOS Rebel K2 35mm (SLR) Canon EOS400D Rebel XTi (D-SLR) Digital rendering (as well as other work edited/compiled on the computer), which I am just starting to take seriously, I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and CS3 for. Any questions, just ask. CURRENT PROJECTS I. Examples of Beginning Photography This is a project that involves step-by-step examples of what can be accomplished by those looking to explore the world of photography, but who currently posses no basic knowledge of photography (all frames will be captured using an inexpensive 35mm SLR). This project is meant to show what a beginning photographer could expect to be able to accomplish within approx. three months of learning, and starting without a basic understanding of photography. While only the frames developed will be posted on Shadowness, one would also be able to expect to have learned, during the course of the three months, film exposure, development, and printing, as well as some knowledge in technical, conceptual, and creative aspects (such as composition, technique, full-tonal range printing, and creating & controlling meaning within one's own images). The project's results should be on par with that of what a student registered in a beginning photography course could expect to accomplish. *Note: This is only an example of what one may be able to accomplish. Everyone learns at a different pace. This is merely a project showing what one could accomplish in their first three months if he or she was interested in learning photography but did not currently have any knowledge on the subject. Examples are based off of the guidance of a beginning photography course syllabus written by John Engelbrecht of The University of Iowa. All images for the project are captured by Brian Grayson. II. My -asofterworld- Series This project is my version of the ever popular "asofterworld" series. I will be adding new ones every now and then (preferably once a month until my first project is completed, then maybe more often than once a month) !Attention!: You may not use, modify, or replicate any of the images I upload to this site without expressed written consent from myself first.
