Part of a request for a rendering tutorial.
My take on the Black Dog of the british isles. When it's standing still and not in a wind, its charnel-gut spews out foul smoke, thus obscuring its form and making it a black cloud with only vague clues as to what is inside it.

i like the fuzzy background. The colors and soft feel make me thing of some of john howe's art.

It actually is for a game! I'm trying to teach myself UDK, there's accompanying concepts for some of the animation and stuff as well that I havent decided whether or not to post yet :)

UDK as in the free version of Unreal Engine? otherwise awesome :D

Yup! The very same :) It seems like the easiest thing for me to learn, and since I'm already teaching myself so much right now, that was a good selling point. Also free. I like free things XD I'll worry about licencing after I can make things worth paying for.

The smoke detail coming out of him is pretty ominous. Awesome work!

Astounding, Liv. I'm impressed by how you drew his skin and by that superb mask. This concept is wicked!

Thanks! :) The mask is gonna change somewhat when I model it (thinking I wanna go more architectural, more art nouveau) but this thing is gonna be a blast to finish :)
