An Aniaitan Starcatcher.
In the lost mythology of the desert planet Aniaito, there were brother Gods for each of their two moons. The children of Sibuna, the elder brother, were half-God creatures called Starcatchers who were responsible for plucking stars out of the sky at daybreak to rest and re-releasing them by nightfall to play. They inherited a gift of shapeshifting from their father, and after time, the naturally curious Starcatchers began to mimic the people of the planet and lived side by side with them. Some fell in love, married, and procreated with the people of the planet, adopting their disguise as their true form.
Long after the death of the Gods and the people took to living underground, there are still those who feel that their real place is elsewhere. They still find their way to the surface at night, gaze at the sky, and feel a deep longing tugging at their hearts.
But they always wonder why, never to have their answer.
