Author's Description: This book follows Magnus, who was the villain in the first book. In this scene, Magnus is facing off against an old world vampire called a Strigoi.


Artist's Note: In this illustration, Magnus clad in his blood red tunic and wielding his ethereal short sword draws first blood from the Strigoi with a clean cut across the chest. The Strigoi manages to cleave a good portion of Magnus' tunic, but nothing more. The stage has been set as the two battle in the courtyard of a crumbling castle in the moonlit night.

Once again I've also used an semi-impressionist approach to create the sense of realism in this piece.
