Finding places to shoot in the winter is challenging enough here in WV...but with the damage many of the forests sustained during Sandy back in October, many of the places I would normally go have been closed, possibly for months.
I drove to Blackwater Falls yesterday in hopes of shooting the falls and visiting Elakala again; however, the main falls are closed and Elakala has trees down all over the place. So I drove to the other side of the canyon to explore another set of falls on Pendleton Run. I have had little luck with these falls before, encountering bad lighting, no flow, or just getting lost. Though there was still a lot of debris here, I tried to make the most of decent light and flow. And I promised myself that I would give this stream more attention in the future. There are many, many more falls to explore as it tumbles to the Blackwater River below.
