"Just beyond the flower garden at the end of the lawn
the curvature of the earth begins,
sloping down from there
over the length of the country
and the smooth surface of the Pacific
before it continues across the convex rice fields of Asia
and, rising, inclines over Europe
and the bulging, boat-dotted waters of the Atlantic,
finally reaching the other side of the house
where it comes up behind a yellow grove of forsythia
near a dilapidated picnic table,
then passes unerringly under the spot
where I am standing, hands in my pockets,
feet planted firmly on the ground."
"Looking West" - Billy Collins

thanks sweet..glad you like the poem too! reminded me of how we're all connected, and not really so far away..kind of comforting in a sense. thanks also for stopping here..was fun to play with the bird for a bit!
Mar 7th Replydittto
very welcome, sweetie..definitely closer as the bird flies! definitely was fun playing at that spot..wish we couldve gotten closer but think the heron knew we couldnt so it wasnt threatened
Mar 7th Replyps..technically your lens was looking west..birdies looking south.. ;)
LAlight
shoosh..know which way I was looking, and which way the bird was looking..didn't even need a compass for that!
Mar 7th Replydittto
