Shadowness - KierstenOlsen I am an 18-year-old self-taught artist, and I've been drawing since I've had dexterity enough to pick up a pencil. I drew all kinds of cartoon-y thin... en Girl With a Pearl Earring
My first-ever attempt at painting the human face. I quite honestly love how it turned out! I'm DEEPLY honored the Chairman approached me with the offer, since the poster has NEVER BEFORE been done by a high school student! We were each issued a poem and expected to create a "stained glass window" to help convey our interpretations to the class. Needless to say (and yeah, I'm gonna toot my own damn horn for a second), mine blew every single one of my classmates' out of the water. Watercolor on watercolor paper, with an overlay of heavy black paper for the outline. Thu, 23 Jun 2011 01:20:33 -0400 Pride & Pain
2010. A picture I did in homage to my grandfather who served in 'Nam. It was for a patriotic art contest and won 1st on the local level and 2nd at the state (one point from winning first and going to nationals. ONE STINKING POINT!). I'm pretty proud of it, and it's Papa John's PRIDE (pun intended...) and joy. Oh, yeah, just as a side note: ignore the white strip on the left side of the picture; the matting managed to sneak into the photo. Prismacolor colored pencil on some oddly sized piece of paper that I chopped myself. Tue, 21 Jun 2011 00:09:07 -0400 Gregory Peck
2010! Finally, we're into a different year! HOT DAMN. Anyway, behold! the late and great Gregory Peck. I can't remember where I got the reference, but I do know I searched forever and a friggin' decade to find it, so I suppose y'all'll have to do the same. It's a picture of my maternal grandmother's cousin, who owns a ranch somewhere in...I dunno, actually. Goes to show how ignorant I am. :D Graphite on 9 x 12 Bristol board Mon, 20 Jun 2011 23:56:16 -0400 Christian Bale
2009. I'll definitely see about getting a better photo of it in the near future, since this was when I had NO IDEA how to use Photoshop to fix it up.
