I decided to put a foggy looking wash over the background as an experiment. I kind of like the effect of morning mist. I love these birds. I feel they are so delicate and elegant. I use a 3/8" and 1/4" angle brush to lay in big areas or washes, but most of the work is done with a 20 ought brush micro mini, and a no1 liner brush. Each line is a simple stroke, and has to go down perfect. I'm still due to paint a wild and crazy oil painting after all of this control. I'm glad you are enjoying these birds, for I really enjoy painting them.
It's strange, but painting with a brush or a Wacom Tablet and a pen tool is exactly the same...except there is only virtual paint. You would laugh, the first time I erased with the pen tool I used my hand to brush off the tablet. It was an automatic gesture, and I laughed at myself. The great thing about the computer is you can enlarge the area you are painting, such as an eye, and then put every subtle nuance you want in it. Some day I'm getting a new computer just for the art part. and keep this one for all the other stuff! :Heart
