Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.

I'm in the initial process of using photoshop. Looking for sources of information that I can specialize and reach my goal which is to become an excellent professional in this area. My source of inspiration are artists like Julie Bell, Salvador Dali, Boris Vallejo and Jim Warren. I am a lover of good music and I listen to almost everything: Gothic, New Age, Symphonic Metal, White Metal, Celtic, Future Pop, Pop sinth, etc ... I appreciate greatly all artistic expressions and sometimes I dare to write. In each photo posted follow something written by me. Hope you enjoy and welcome!

I'm a self taught illustrator from the Philippines. My artworks usually focus on women with very long hair surrounded by flowers and vines. Other artworks depend on what I feel or what I have experienced. I do traditional and digital illustrations. I usually listen to music while I draw something because for me it helps a lot when I'm making details to my drawings. My dream is to become a childrens book illustrator. As of today, I'm still trying to find and learn more techniques in drawing to improve my illustrations. =) You can also find me here: Tumblr: http://nikkiradan.tumblr.com/ Behance: http://www.behance.net/nikkiradan
