The story behind the artwork.
We will try to show the story behind the artwork.
Many times all of us we are wondering how a piece of art was created.
Here is a good chance to learn some informations about techniques, the artist's feelings who is being interviewed and many more.
We will be picking one artwork, and the selected artist will have the chance to choose 3 of his own works to be featured.
If you want to be interviewed, send a note to /Litavis or /JurgenDoe . We will be happy to give you an interview about your work.
It is our honor to present the sixth artist of our article.
The chosen piece
1.What is special about this piece?
I made this piece for a contest done by Mijn Schatje. I know her personally and I think her art is really great and with a special and unique technique.Actually, I wasn’t interested to win the contest, just to make a tribute to her art and a gift for our friendship.
2.Did you choose, or were you chosen to create this artwork?
I choose to make it by myself.3.Tell us about your techniques.
This piece is painted digitally (the mask design belongs to Mijn directly, there also a sort of manipulation putting her original artwork too).Usually, even if i color my pieces with Photoshop, I draw them first traditionally (I still love feeling the paper and the pencil),then I scan them and I start to paint them with Photoshop.
4.Where did you found your inspiration about this artwork?
Well,I saw the mask done by Mijn, and since the contest was about a photo with that mask but with any customizations you wanted to add on it, I thought it could be funny and different if I paint the “real” version of that mask.5.How do you feel about the feedback and the response you received?Do you care?or do you like to figure it out all by yourself?
Oh well, I love receiving feedbacks about my works, especially if people have constructive critiques on them. All comments are really important to me, even if I have to admit that I’m the worst critic of my works.
6.What is the strangest or funniest comment or question you've ever gotten about this artwork?
Well, the strangest comment was about Mijn artwork actually: they told me she is an art thief, she is supposed to trace photos of bjd for her artwork.I don’t know if this is true actually, but if its is so, it’s very disappointing.Anyway, I saw her working and I swear she has talent.
About all the rest, well it’s not my business at all.
7.What are your biggest doubts (assuming you have any),about your artwork?
Well,in general if the composition works well,if I used good lights and a good palette,if I made mistakes about anatomy, perspective and proportion…well,I have a HUGE amount of doubt about all my artworks,I’m usually not very satisfied when I finish my last piece, but this is for me the reason to improve my skills for my next artwork (at least, trying to improve them!).8.Share with us 3 pieces of your gallery to admire.
I chose samples of my works as illustrator (both digital and traditional piece) and one of my work as colorist.
