Newborn babies for me are a symbol of new begnings, hope and promises,I wanted my first artwork of the new year (2012) to be meangingful and special Infants are the symbol of the New Year and a new cycle can be traced to ancient Greece and the festival of Dionysus.
2.Did you choose, or were you chosen to create this artwork?
I chose to create it ,wanted something to do something like this for a while.
3.Tell us about your techniques.
My preferred mediums are graphite pencil,Charcoal, color pencils, watercolor, pastels ,acrylics. My techniques depend on what i do artwise either drawing or painting. For drawings/portraits i use pencil, charcoal I use bristol board or drawing paper,I start shading my subjects very light using an h2 pencil and gradually move to darker pencils. For paintings i start off with light washes of watercolor or acrylic paint using meduim size paint brushes, and use my pastel or color pencils for details and extra shading ,worked on Arches Hotpress watercolor paper.
4.Where did you found your inspiration about this artwork?
One of my favorite things to draw are children/babies , they have the most cutest and purest expressions i came across a stock reference of a cutest newborn i have ever seen and right away fell in love with it and wanted to draw it.It is also based on a sketch i did last year for a 1 hour sketch fest jam event i participate with other artists once a month .
