As always drawing hair was fun, although I'm not satisfied with the left side of it. A4; Derwent Coloursoft and Artists coloured pencils [white and grey], Staedtler Mars Lumograph 8B pencil. Time: 6h. Wed, 24 Sep 2014 12:01:31 -0400 Frogs drawing
As I mentioned below my previous frog drawing, some time ago I'd planned to draw tropical frogs as they are very colourful... and I did :) These are Agalychnis callidryas - red-eyed tree frogs. I'm satisfied with the result [although I wasn't myself if I didn't want to change a few things :D]. It was fun to use so many colours I'd not usually choose [as I draw mostly human portraits] ^^ As I'm not a big fan of Faber-Castell coloured pencils, but this time they saved my ass. I needed a bright, intense pink coloured pencil to draw a stalk and neither Koh-I-Noors nor Derwents have one... but Faber-Castells do! A4. Koh-I-Noor Polycolor, Derwent Coloursoft & Faber-Castell [pink] coloured pencils. Time: 39h. Tue, 08 Apr 2014 06:05:18 -0400 Frog
What a surprise, isn't it? Ilojleen drew a frog! So, last month I thought it'd be nice to draw another multicoloured work and the first thing which came to my mind were tropical frogs. While browsing, of course, frogs photos, I found this wonderful picture and decided to give it a try, but in pencils [as it's not that colourful]. And this is the result ^^ Hope you like it :) A5, Derwent Graphic pencils HB-9B, white acrylic paint; time: ~18h; ref. photo by Igor Siwanowicz. Wed, 26 Mar 2014 14:29:14 -0400 Tyrion Lannister
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister Tyrion became one of my two favourite GoT characters [the latter is Jon Snow, poor grumpy fella]: he’s intelligent, witty, and, well, we share the same kinky sense of humour :B I admire his strength in dealing with being mocked. The fate often treats him harshly, yet he’s definitely a good man, the best of Lannisters. Derwent Coloursoft coloured pencils [white and grey], Mars Staedtler Lumograph 8B, white gel pen, black A4-sized paper; time: approx. 4,5h. More info and a bigger scan: Sun, 16 Mar 2014 15:18:48 -0400 Aidan Turner
Yeah, Mr Aidan Turner again :B I'll omit the part where I'm explaining why I like him and it's not only because of his good looks. BUT GUYS. It's my first serious coloured pencil portrait! :D The first attempt at drawing human face in coloured pencils took place 2 years ago and the reference photo wasn't really complicated so I don't consider it a proper coloured pencil portrait. But this one... this one was tricky! Aidan has beautiful facial features and I didn't want to screw his likeness up - I fixed his eyes, nose and mouth several times. I'm not fond of drawing curly hair, so these friggin' curls put my patience to the test  The background was drawn from my imagination. I decided not to copy the background from the reference photo, but I didn't want to leave it white either. So eventually I came up with something bokeh-ish :B I hope all this was worth my effort! I mean, it turned out different than I'd envisioned, but I'm proud of myself :) A4, Derwent Coloursoft, Derwent Artists and Koh-I-Noor Polycolor coloured pencils, a white gel pen, a regular eraser, Derwent blender, Mars Staedtler Lumograph 8B, 55 hours.
