    very lovely! it has such presence and the colors are so saturated I would've never guessed it was watercolor!

      I use a little white and black in some of the colors, but it's kind of amazing how bright and pure watercolor can become on this Amate Bark Paper. Plus I just sketch the image in with a watered down pigment and then build the painting from the sketch. In a way it's like painting on a toned canvas with oils. It's a very relaxing method of painting in watercolor on this paper and very forgiving. However, you don't actually use a great deal of water. The paper warps if you get it too saturated.       Thank you for the explanation--it never ceases to amaze me what different artists can create with the same media! I do love the earthy tones of this piece, and the depth is outstanding! Sounds like you paint like I draw...in many, many layers! I will have to try out that paper for my cp works!!
