GrapeVine Pavers by HouseofChabrier

16" X 16" Sculpted then cast Grape Pavers I made for my front walkway. These are the only ones in the whole wide world. I sculpted these after sculpting the repeat pattern ceiling panels for the Luxor in Vegas, and then Sculpted the Mayan Temple for Disney Resorts in Florida. I got this brain storm "Why not sculpt repeat patterns for the floor, like tiles, but larger and for out doors?" I then thought why not match the colors of my Roof tiles? So I went to Home Depot after carving a number of different 16" X 16" Panels with different themes, and learned about white Portland Cement, color additives, and polymers you can add to prevent breakage, and set to work making these. I ruined the shocks on my van, but other than that I had a good old time casting cement pavers in the molds my husband made off of the models I sculpted. These line the walkway to my front door.

Wow! The way you just keep exploring different ways of making things, even for something as seemingly simple as a walkway is as ever inspiring! The pattern is just beautiful! How well have these held up so far? You have me curious about attempting something similar over the summer...~♥

These are ten years old, walked on every day, never have caused me to stumble, and you can walk on them in heels or bare feet. I designed them that way, and I can put up the exact same design that I turned into a needlepoint pattern. I do everything, because you only have one life, there really no such thing as failure if you learn something from what you do, and usually all the horrible things you can imagine never happen. Thus just believe in yourself, draw and paint sculpt or create what's in your heart and mind every day. I'm 63 and I'm still not afraid to do any kind of art, try new drawing techniques. draw new things and explore new worlds. Don't attempt as Yoda said, "There is no try there is just do!" May the force be with you!
