This is a healthy looking Arizona Coyote, our San Diego Coyotes look all skinny, scraggly, and rag tag. I enjoyed painting this alert, healthy, handsome young guy!

Gato Tacos, mice, rats, ground squirrels, rabbit, dog food, cat food, and road kill ... not too promising a diet to ensure great hair, good coats, and good body weight. We have scrawny, skinny, yappy, and hungry coyotes.

They actually love to eat cats and little dogs, and our country chickens. But my chickens and cats are very wise and stay way up high where the coyotes can't reach them. Our Mama Kitty has lived about 12 years or more outside, but she is a mean, wily cat, and you can't really pet her. She will let you feed her though, and she is very grateful for milk. My other cats play outside during the day, and then eat and sleep in the studio at night. It's not easy being a cat in East County San Diego! But the cats all have fun!!!

That is one of the really good things about DA, the vast resources for study and seeing the world through the photography and art of millions of people. Sometimes images we would rather not see, but the good ones shine through. :)

I love Ernie's work, and too few people see it. He climbs mountains, searches the Nevada desert, and always offers beautiful images for us to see and enjoy. I've met some very kind good people at DA!
