Thank you sensei! I found a few "German style" restaurants near this marina but as we discussed earlier...no respectable German would eat at them!
But I did find a local brewer that made a good hefeweizen and a couple of nice English ales!
Sep 20th, 2011 Reply C'mon Pookie...JurgenDoe
a local German brewer for beer
.. well english ale isn't beer at all .. it looks like pee and taste like pee
.. I think I have to come to japan to open a real German Restaurant for you
Sep 20th, 2011 Reply SubscriberHillbillyDeluxe
Unfortunately he isn't German but an American expat but does bottle a good beer! As much as I like my hefeweizen, I do enjoy a good India Pale Ale or a good stout too,
Sep 20th, 2011 Reply C'mon Pookie...JurgenDoe
Well as american he can't brew real german beer because they put chemicals in there .. I know of a german brewer he wanted to make german beer in the US and they told him that he has to add this and that and the beer even tasted anymore like we do in Germany and he said NO THANKS and went back to Germany
Sep 20th, 2011 Reply SubscriberAmerican just can't brew beer at all :puke

I love the German Purity Law! Beer tastes so much better! I have heard of one German man living up in Hokkaido (northern territory) that is brewing beer in the true German style. Unfortunately he doesn't sell his beer in my area which can only mean one thing.....ROAD TRIP!
Sep 21st, 2011 Reply C'mon Pookie...JurgenDoe
Well you have to take the road trip to get this nice german beer up in the northern territory and you better buy enough for a couple of weeks

As long as it's live beer I don't mind
Sep 24th, 2011 Reply Respect & ResponsibilityEarthHart
OY!!! You haven't had a good pint of Real English Ale then, and I'm not talking of the bottled stuff
Sep 24th, 2011 Reply Respect & ResponsibilityIf you ever get over to Wells, I'll buy you a few pints & see how you stand afterwards

The only thing you have to buy is coffee since I don't drink alcohol at all .. I don't care for this

Will, regarding the ales, I do enjoy a good IPA. Unfortunately the last time I was in the UK, I was underage and couldn't try any tasty beverages. My only experience with UK beer is the stuff I get in the pubs here or in cans and bottles. I had an Old Speckled Hen the other day which I though was pretty good. And I had a bottle of "Traquair House Ale" which I thought was really good. But it's not a real English ale as it is brewed and bottled in Scotland. Any suggestions for me to try?

Bishop's Tipple is a nice dark Old ale. Ales brewed by Shepherd & Neame are always good. Black Sheep is another good brew, a drinkable one not too strong
