A shot from last winter.
It's not often we get a colourful sunset in the dead of winter here, so I was happy to be out on this day!

Sandra a superb capture, I love the glow of the setting sun, the shadows in the snow. i can almost feel the snow crunching beneath my footsteps with the last warmth of sunlight on my skin. Excellent work as ever

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it - I hiked all the way out there and around the trees, etc and although it doesn't seem that far, the snow was deep and I didn't have my snow shoes on that day so it took me FOREVER and I was Sooooo tired by the time I got back to my car I had visions of collapsing in the snow and being found in the spring! LOL! THis was taken on the way back to the car .... it was clear blue skies when I started!

And that is what it takes to be a great landscape and nature photographer! We only have to make sure we get our images back to where they can be seen! Getting back alive is a bonus! =)

LOL! So true! Hopefully someone who knows something would edit my last pics and post them for me! LOL!

XD I've told the people around my home who know me, that If I get eaten by a mountain lion to find the SD card--because it will probably have the most awesome photo of a leaping cougar ever seen!

That's hilarious! I've thought things like that too! LOL! At least you will live on through your art! ;)

It Looks damn cold out there Sandy! I love the sunny Glow off the snow, that golden snow looks like a lot of people have peed on it! LOL Just Kidding its really Beautiful!

Hmmm - don't think it was TOO bad that day - otherwise I wouldn't have gone out. I think it was downright balmy! LOL! imagine that - miles and miles of frozen tundra and I'm calling it "balmy." I 've lived in the north for too long..... (I was born and raised in Northern Canada - I should send you a You Tube link about the town I was raised in some time - complete with dog sleds and all!)
Jul 13th, 2011 ReplyAnd BTW - if there is pee in the snow - the snow melts.... so you have a pee "hole" ..... Just so you know in case you are ever in the snow and get thirsty - you'll know which snow is safe to eat! LOL!!!
Have you ever actually been in the snow, you Southerner?

I live in California! I'm 2 hours from everything! Snow, Ocean, Redwoods and Hollywood! well not Hollywood that's more like 6 hours lol but yes i have been in the snow and rather enjoy is as long as i have a warm place to go after and don't get wet while I'm in it..

hmph! so what you're saying then is that you like snow.... as long as it's on your own terms! LOL!! Maaaan......... you need to spend a winter here - 5 months with snow up to your ass in minus 30 celcius. That will make a man outta ya! LOL!

No Thanks.. No need for any place to be that cold.. if your not storing Ice Cream out side it should never be that cold.
