riftmaker

riftmaker I'm not quite sure why, but I feel as if a lot of your photography work is kinda rigid.... Or perhaps too orderly, a bit too uniform...

For example the guitars. Although they are placed in ways some guitars aren't usually placed, however it is not that interesting to me. The fact is, the photo doesn't feel like it's enhancing whatever idea it feels like you're trying to present, which I guess, would be the essence of the guitar, however isn't really brought up front... like it's more about the idea of the idea instead of the idea itself (if that makes any sense).

Another picture to note is "River." The picture itself is vertical, however the bridge, which is in the center of the piece and grabs our attention the most, is horizontal, and is not flowing with the dimensions of the picture. I'm not saying that all bridge photos should be taken horizontally, however picture dimensions and your subject matter are very important in photography.

I'm not sure where you want to go with your photography - everyone has their own style and way of doing things - however I would suggest working on your compositions and thinking about having more dynamic angles that don't necessarily place everything into the center of the piece.

The only advice I can give is to experiment with different kinds of angles that give a more dynamic composition rather than putting everything of importance in the middle at normal eyesight line. For example, try putting your camera in the dirt and take a shot of what it's like to see if your eyes were only an inch away from the ground. It's actually kind of interesting because a lot of your photos have an Illustration/Graphic Design element to them, and you could turn a lot of them into graphic design posters or the like. However you should be aware that you can't always mix the too. There were some photos that were meant to be taken and to be simply photographs, so also take that to mind.

I'm not a professional photographer, and I'm mostly talking out of my own preferences/bias (read:ass). It'd be better to get a second opinion so please don't take my words too seriously. They're my opinions and you shouldn't feel like you have to adopt them.

That is all. I hope you continue your photography. :)
