“Our thoughts are unseen hands shaping the people we meet. Whatever we truly think them to be that’s what they’ll become for us.” – Richard Cowper
Just wanted to say thank you to all those who will take a look at this piece and the series. Thank you, and I do hope with your help we can work together in spreading the message of how horrible it is to discriminate.
This is my MINOR project I did for my BFA degree in Graphic Design called human INSIDE. This project was on exhibit in Barbados. All photos and concepts are original and done by myself.
The set up is an installation piece, where the images are suspended one after the other, it is meant to be an interactive campaign where people walk through, observe and see 7 phases of discrimination unfolding. To the back of the images are quotes which conveys the message of the each photo essay. The images presented in the series are meant to be interpreted personally and ambiguously. There is a video at the end which shows the transitions from one image to the other to relate the story.
Concept
human INSIDE is an anti-discrimination campaign which aims to raise awareness of discrimination and hopefully reduce discrimination as much as possible.
Instead of using people, inanimate objects became the subjects of the photo essays. Each essay tells a story that relates to results of discrimination or how it unfolds.

Apr 23rd, 2011 Replybut you really brought it out in a beautiful way within the photo
Famz
indeed! I hope many more people get to see and understand the message behind the series and not look at them as artistic pieces but learn something from them :)
Apr 23rd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comThanks a lot Natasha, appreciate your compliment and feedback! :)

Thank you Carin! very happy you like it, appreciate your feedback :) I'm so proud of this series, this is the first set of conceptual work that I put a lot of effort into and means a lot to me.

You should continue doing this kind of conceptual work, it's excellent so the effort really paid off.

Thank you! I do have a few concepts in mind but not regarding Discrimination. I would like to come up with some more for some social issues.
Apr 22nd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comCaja
Oh yes, I didn't mean it had to be on discrimination but I think you do a lot with little. Conceptually it's great :) Do you have any social issues in mind?
Apr 22nd, 2011 ReplyFamz
:) Thank you! I was thinking about suicide, the suicide death rate is so high. I haven't thought of other social issues yet, do you think there are social issues I could come up with a concept for? If I get going with it, I could come up with another series :D lol now you got me excited!
Apr 22nd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comCaja
I'm glad I got you excited. :) I think suicide might be a good idea, I did a poster 2007 and I wrote this info on it: "MORE than 20 million people attempts and fail suicide every year, which is more people than in a small country. There are, for example, 9 million people in Sweden. NOT all fail though; one million people are successful in their attempts every year. Which means that someone die by suicide every 40 seconds.
Apr 22nd, 2011 ReplySource: WHO"
I think the rates might either be the same or worse now. And there are a lot of social issues out there: rape, loneliness, money problems, orphans, the struggle for LGBTQ and so on. :) Do it, do it!
Famz
wow :| the statistics are horrifying!! in our island, we dont even have a quarter million people, and in one week about 5 - 6 people committed suicide. It's not a norm here and it's really saddening to see the numbers fluctuate!
Apr 23rd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comThank you for the motivational boost! I will I will!!! :D you'll be the first person I show when I post it ;)
Caja
Oh my, how sad they committed suicide. I always get sad when such things happen even if I don't know them personally.
Apr 25th, 2011 ReplyI'm really looking forward to it. Don't forget to poke me! :o
Jarek
Ha, Ha! Cool idea! Bravo!
Apr 22nd, 2011 ReplyFamz
:) Thank you!
Apr 22nd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comI don't know why but when post people look at the series they laugh lol! It's supposed to be serious, but I'm glad they get the humour, hopefully they'll remember the message
Jarek
You know what? Now read the title of the photo. You're right, this is serious. I apologize for my forgetfulness.
Apr 22nd, 2011 ReplyFamz
Haha noo that's okay, it's the initial reaction most people get, not only you so don't apologise, it's the feeling you got when you saw it...when I had this as an installation piece it had a different effect because the images were suspended like a story, you actually had to walk through and around them, so it was more engaging. I also had a video with sound at the end.
Apr 22nd, 2011 Reply junoondesigns.comJarek
It's very interesting what you write. I'm disconsolate, that I behaved as the majority. If the title read... I would write other commentary. :-)
Apr 22nd, 2011 ReplyFamz
well we are part of the majority...and maybe it might be a wake up call for you to realise something bigger that we usually overlook :) If I wasn't the one that made this I probably would giggle and say that is cool...I think that's how we react to most forms of discrimination too, we don't do anything...and that's including myself, we just accept it.

This whole series is brilliant! Excellent work on all of them ♥ ♥
