Daily Inspiration #46
Just wanted to say thank you to all those who will take a look at this piece and the series. Thank you, and I do hope with your help we can work together in spreading the message of how horrible it is to discriminate.
This is my MINOR project I did for my BFA degree in Graphic Design called human INSIDE. This project was on exhibit in Barbados. All photos and concepts are original and done by myself.
The set up is an installation piece, where the images are suspended one after the other, it is meant to be an interactive campaign where people walk through, observe and see 7 phases of discrimination unfolding. To the back of the images are quotes which conveys the message of the each photo essay. The images presented in the series are meant to be interpreted personally and ambiguously. There is a video at the end which shows the transitions from one image to the other to relate the story.
Concept
human INSIDE is an anti-discrimination campaign which aims to raise awareness of discrimination and hopefully reduce discrimination as much as possible.
Instead of using people, inanimate objects became the subjects of the photo essays. Each essay tells a story that relates to results of discrimination or how it unfolds.
What has been manipulated is the letters on the beads, the actual motion of the beads falling is not manipulated.

Very well displayed in image and in words what disability is about. I most liked how this image displays the differences as equals in concept. Thank you Famz.

I have Asberger's and it has been through being reminded of my own abilities andembracing my strengths that I have found a very valuable and meaningful place in the world, even when others put me down. Thank you.

Now, this I like. I work with the IHC ( mentally handicap ) The house I work in, is a very high needs house, so the people also have disability's.

Its something that I work with all the time, so its in my heart.
Apr 23rd, 2011 ReplyI am also an Obese person. which is classed as a disability. So I get people pointing and staring all the time, and saying Im "too fat" to do that, etc. When I can do just as much as anyone else can. I just might take a little longer is all.

:) It's great to see positive attitudes! We can achieve things just differently! and who ever said there's only one way of doing something right?

Well done! So true. In a lot of ways, I see disabilities as a special gift and *I* am disabled in a way that they are not.

Thank you! really appreciate your feedback. You know I watch people who are differently abled, and see some of them over come so many obstacles even do things we wouldn't dare to do. They are so courageous and their will power is so strong. So I really ask myself, who is the weaker one?
