Shadowness - Ennaedwyn Ahhhh -> the "everything-you-wanted-to-know-but-were-afraid-to-ask" box. I'm a traditional artist with no reallll formal art school trai... en The mess on my desk
Stuff I'm working on... :) Sun, 23 Mar 2014 18:11:37 -0400 "Phoenix"
I've been busy but quiet. This is my latest in the ways to stretch my artistic "wings" as it were. Done on canvas in Liquitex acrylic and Primsacolor verithin pencils. Image was referenced by the lovely Faestock on DA All rights reserved (c) Wendy "Ennaedwyn" Fowler Sun, 23 Mar 2014 14:09:35 -0400 "Rapunzel"
She goes on auction over at Femme Thou Art Collective on the 21st of this month for "Grimm's Fairy Tale" them/auction. I suggest serious buyers ONLY as she is opening up at $75 (this does not include shipping or handling) If you're interested in this the auction will be here… I referenced a classic image… as seen here and the rest was ALOT of pink...ohmigosh. Pink, pink, pink and some black. Ok, its a stretch...but ALOT of pink nonetheless. What possessed me to make her hair pink, flying swimming blackmoor fish with oddly a butterfly influence in their fins and steampunk? Because I CAN!!!! The flowers are known as "Campanula rapunculus" which is believed to be the influence for the name "Rapunzel" the Grimm's brothers used. My scanner is evil and since she was painted on 9x12, some of the fish, feather and her hair were nixed in the scan. Plus is made the image a weeee redder. >< Painted on 100% cotton Stonehenge paper 9x12 in watercolor, acrylic (metallics), watercolor and pastel pencils, pastel chalks & colored pencils - aka "mixed media" Image has watermarks ALLL over it. Enjoy! Thu, 17 Oct 2013 17:33:00 -0400 "Irony"
I'm a member of Femme Thou Art Collective this was fun to try my hand at a "pop art/low brow" piece. "Irony" - Because life is full of twists and turns. Me playing with acrylics (normal and acrylic)/colored pencils/watercolor and white ink on wood panel (9.5 x 6.5) And yes, part of it is left unfinished...because I CAN! (muhahahahahaaaaa) Very happy with this...surreal, fantasy, pop art whatever else you want to call it... essence, I had fun! PS - the female is a bjd face (ball jointed doll) hence the BIG anime like eyes Thu, 10 Oct 2013 16:59:20 -0400 Gothic Sea Dreams
Companion piece to Paper - Strathmore Windpower Mixed media vellum surface 6x8 paper Medium - mixed. Colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pastel sticks (applied wet and or moist - as in not quite dry and not quite really wet), acrylic and gouache. (Look here and see the mess I created Inspiration once again comes form the lovely Anna Marine as seen here And I LOVE to have mascara glamorize my lashes like that without falsies! PS - she is a mermaid...I mean, how many ladies to you see sporting a wee cute octopi in their hair on land? PSS - her face has a light watermark across it. Oh well Enjoy! Sun, 18 Aug 2013 22:15:07 -0400 "Goldfish"
Queue James Bond music...this mermaid reminds me of something "James Bond-ish" and the title stuck. Plus I'm abit tired of orangey-yellow-gold-red. Painting the fish was refreshing "Ahhh, black!" Image was referenced here: First time I tried to paint a black moor goldfish (of has fantasy flare to it) - lets just say, first time to paint a fish... And I went crazy with hair and tail and hair and tail...why? WHY?! I have no clue... Weapons of choice on this was: (l) colored pencils (c) watercolor pencils (r) pastel stick pencils. Above this line up you can see I used 2 Reeves water soluble wax crayons & two pastel sticks. The fish was mostly done in black pastel applied like watercolor (99% done this way) and I used the purple color (from another project, no sense in wasting perfectly dried watercolor paint...add water and use) in the wee basin. This was all done on Stonehenge Cotton vellum finish 250gsm neutral pH/acid free 9x12 paper (I'm still out if I I like this better than Strathmore multi media paper - says it doesn't buckle/warp, etc. and it did...but then I don't stretch my paper that much...meh) And there will be more mermaids...they keep swimming into my head...maybe if I stuck cotton in my ears? Enjoy! I placed this under "mature audiences" because the hint of "boobs" might cause people to go "ahhhh, my eyes!" - like all mermaids well shells and sea weed as covering... >< Fri, 28 Jun 2013 16:32:06 -0400 Wood Witch
Mixed Media (watercolor pencils, pastel pencils & pastel sticks, black acrylic, colored pencil and white gouache + time) on Strathmore Windpowered Mixed Media smooth vellum paper 5x7 (my weapon of choice now) Pose referenced from Liam Stock -> Sometimes you just have to paint something to appease the muse/not scream....who cares if it makes sense. And yes, pink moths/butterflies can happen in fantasy.
