The Heavyweight Family

by EarthHart in Street & Street Portraiture

Obesity is now a major health problem in the UK, and I've seen many individuals here in Wells.
The market stall this family are at, is the Cheese stall, and they are sampling some.

I gotta print this and hang it right in front of my desk. And then hire a hardcore personal trainer. Or better a drill sergeant.

It's becoming a problem here too. The effects of the change from a slow food, traditional diet to one that is faster, pre-made and convenient will start to show in the next 5 to 10 years in Japan. And while I don't have any empirical data, I do have my own anecdotal evidence and that is enough to convince me that the faster paced, highly scheduled lifestyles some of us lead has changed our eating habits and not for the better. It's hard work to eat healthy these days and many of us just don't have the time to do it.

ps - and from research I have read and listened to lately, the inclusion of sugar, high fructose corn syrup and other sweeteners is going to kill us all sooner or later.

Time can always be found to cook fresh food, but folks are just too lazy.
I don't eat any processed food if I can help it, and having been a Chef for 14yrs I know a fair bit about food produce

Much of the additives that go into processed food are not fully digestible, and so get laid down in fat.

I am guilty of it too! My schedule doesn't always leave me time to prepare fresh food and a bagged lunch isn't always an option either. Often I find myself grabbing a meal on the go, which is laden with chemicals, fillers and overly refined ingredients. Therefore the tire around my middle keeps inflating year after year...
