A guy with a great mind until, in the mid '90s, he was set upon by a gang with scaffold poles. He was so badly beaten up & left for dead. His injuries were a fractured scull, in 3 places, 5 ribs, pelvis & leg fractures. After major life-saving surgery he spent 4 months in Intensive Care.
I used to have amazing conversations with him about the environment, land use & CC/GW, now, it's lucky to get a sentence out of him that is coherent.

That is so heart-wrenching.. It's so terrible, the cruelty of people. Still, through that hardship, at least you still have the memories, and can share this story with the rest of us.

The nice thing is, that Bob is still a friend. We occasionally have coffee together
And since I gave him the painting he's been so much better

very very touching...... you keep his memory within your soul.... and also with your capture.... he would be very grateful for your deep friendship....

He's an OK guy. It annoys me that folks just see hie exterior, they never knew him before the attack.
Aug 25th Reply Respect & ResponsibilityAlmost every time we meet, he always talks about the prints I gave him. Bless him.
Many thanks for the favour, m'deer

Jun 14th, 2011 Reply Respect & ResponsibilityBob saw me in town today, and came over & had a chat. I told him of the posting here. He grinned, saying "You'll make me famous, Will. Good man." Bless him.

One of my favorite pieces from you!

Bless you, Meng.
Jun 12th, 2011 Reply Respect & ResponsibilityIt's one of mine too. I gave Bob two framed large prints, the other shot I've just put up, and he was overwhelmed. Now, when I see him, all he talks about are the photographs that I gave him. I still keep an eye on him.

That's a beautiful portrait. Horrible story though.

Thank you, m'deer, & for the favour
Jun 12th, 2011 Reply Respect & ResponsibilityThe creatures who attacked Bob are not human beings. I've lost a great friend in Bob. Thankfully his spirit's still there if not his mind.
