Camp Robber

by Earleywine in Oil Paintings

16 x 20 Oval Oil on Canvas

This is a Gray Jay. I have always called them camp robbers - and this guy was living up to his nickname. Hanging around the campsite looking for scraps on a camping trip to the Blue Mountains in Oregon

Love the softness and the colors on this one. Your story about this bird reminded me of my crow when I was a kid.

    Excellent work as always

My cousin gave it to me, He found it badly wounded, one eye blind, one leg broken, and couldn't fly far. Took me a while before I tamed him. I never put him in a cage, he just perched on a tree nearby and comes to me whenever I call. He's still a crow though, scavenging for foods here and there even though I fed him in hands. One day I never saw him again, probably the hunters got to him. :(
