About halfway through this drawing, I began to question my sanity on deciding to do 7 of them. 5 is a good number. Or 3. Nothing wrong with 3, I have always liked that number. haha Sat, 12 May 2012 14:51:51 -0400 TroublesBrewing
36 x 48 Oil on Canvas. Kinda hard to get a photo that really shows this painting, I think because it is so large. But anyway, after many many many hours of work, this one is done :) Tue, 25 Sep 2012 15:05:52 -0400 Trail Worne
16 x 20 Oil Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:25:47 -0500 Black&Tan 9x12 Oil
a little oil that I finished today Wed, 29 Aug 2012 18:29:03 -0400 Still Waters
I have been working on this little oil painting of a male wood duck at the same time as I have been doing some drawings – and I finally finished him last night. Wood ducks are such colorful little guys – and quite shy and timid. I have been wanting to paint one for a long time, and that desire got a lot stronger when I moved here. I have been watching some of the pairs that winter over in the local pond for the last couple of years now. Although the males are so striking with their bright colors and markings – I actually love the subtle colors of the little females even more. So there is a painting with a pair of wood ducks coming up in the future. I knew I was breaking some composition rules when I laid this painting out, so to compensate for having the duck so far to the right, I painted it on a 12 x 24 gallery wrap canvas. Thus avoiding having to have a frame enclosing the painting and interfering with the composition. Will try to get a better photo tomorrow when the lighting is better Sat, 12 Jan 2013 15:58:23 -0500 Annie
This is a 15 1/2 x 17 1/2 charcoal drawing on bark paper of my cousins dog Annie. He didn't have any good photos of her, so I asked Alesana if I could use one of her photos of her beautiful chocolate lab as a base and change things a bit to look more like Annie. Basically, I changed the eyes - Annie's were a bit darker and rounder. And I made the muzzle just a touch shorter, ears a touch wider. Thank you Alesana !! LOL It is mixed media - Prismacolor Drawing Pencils - Sepia and Sanguine. Derwent Drawing Pencils - Wheat and Chinese White. Charcoal, of course. And, some white acrylic paint. Yes, I can do this - I am the artist! :P This is not the best photo of the drawing - I will be replacing it with a better quality one within the next couple of days This is "Lucy", a young grizzly bear cub that was somehow abandoned or separated from her mother in Alaska and rescued from starvation. She now resides at the Montana Grizzly Encounter, which is a wonderful bear rescue place about 10 miles from me. This drawing of her is from a visit a made this fall, during our first really good snow storm. I love going out to visit their 5 bears. I am trying to decide if I should name the drawing "First Snow" because of it being our first snow of the year, as well as Lucy's first good snow. Or if I should name it "Powdered Donut" because that is what she reminds me of. I am going to set up a poll on my page if anyone wants to vote.
