A mythical cecaelia (half-human-half-cephalopod) dances in the depths of the ocean.
Notes: This is an idea that I've had in my head and written down in my ideas notebook for a very long time but I just now got around to actually creating it. I'm not really sure what inspired this since it's been so long since I originally came up with the idea to do this. I might have been reading something about mythology during one of my late night insomnia-driven Googling fits. Overall, I'm pleased with how this turned out given it's only my second new artwork in nearly a year.
Technical Notes: I took a plain human figure, hid all the parts that I didn't need, then positioned her above a squid figure that I had once again hid all the parts of that I didn't need. After that I had to pose all those damn tentacles, her flowing hair (which actually turned out to be the hardest part), and then the woman herself. I rendered the combined figure on a transparent background then created my own "ocean depths" in postwork along with lots of touch-ups here and there on the figures and some overlays plus a lot of color and such adjustments.
