I have always liked the Rubens' drawings and the use of not only black and white chalk, but also the red one. Maybe it reminds you that portrait because of her big eyes and the particular facial structure. :)

You're right, somehow it reminds Vermeer's work. Maybe Svetlana was thinking of a modern version of "girl with a pearl earring" when she took that shot ;)
