Whether the dragon created the island or whether it moved into the molten mountain after the island had formed, no one knows for sure. But one thing is certain: nothing good ever happens while the dragon is awake—when it’s fiery head lifts far above the island and clouds of hot smoke spread across the sky. During these times, the lava flows freely down the sides of the mountain, creating rivers of molten rock and etching out the wings of Encolinar. The idea is that the Generation 1 pony, Dancing Butterflies, is passing on the legacy of butterflies to the Generation 4 pony, Fluttershy. The butterflies they're flying through are based off of the two ponies' cutie marks. All girls like to dress up a little and feel like a lady every now and then, even if they're more comfortable being rugged country folk. I played a lot with the painting style in this one as I continued to experiment with Painter. I'm not sure if it's something I'll intentionally emulate again, but I rather like it for a smoother, simpler style than what I gravitate towards when using strictly Photoshop. Discontent to stay within her ocean home, Isal decided she must see where the elves lived when they weren't sailing their ships. Against her siblings warnings, she took to the sharp rocky cliffs until she could climb no higher and had to return home, disappointed, but held in awe among her peers. Soon more of the young serpentine folk would begin venturing to further and further realms in search of new places and wild adventures. And this was only the first of many for Isal. His gorgeous form was in the process of slowly falling over. "D!" While Mia raced over to where he'd fallen to the ground, she could feel her own consciousness slipping away. Collapsing on top of D, the fortuneteller's daughter fainted. Sunlight ruthlessly roasted her body. A powerful chill spread from Mia's forehead, and she opened her eyes. D's left hand was resting on her brow. "Can you...move?" D asked, still lying on his back. --Twin Shadowed Knight (Part One and Two), p. 65 ---------------------------- Apparently, a dhampir as powerful as D can stand only as much heat and sunlight as the average human. Thankfully, though, he has a handy little symbiot that is, not only unaffected by the sun's heat, but also capable of reversing the effect on humans. I suppose if Mia hadn't been there, that scene would've been the end of the series. Prints are available only at conventions or by request via note or e-mail.
