Shadowness - DeanoSidwell http://shadowness.com http://www.facebook.com/DeanSidwellArt Hi, I'm Dean. I am a pencil artist and I love drawing. I draw many things including people, portraits, dark/... en Carping for causes http://shadowness.com/DeanoSidwell/carping-for-causes
This is a drawing that I've done which will be auctioned off for charity, all proceeds will go to The Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Keen angling friends of mine run a Facebook group called Carping 4 Causes - https://www.facebook.com/groups/667018126707933/?fref=ts are trying to raise money for the charity. I was asked if I would like to do a drawing that will be auctioned off to raise money for charity, here's what I did for them. I was happy to help towards a worthy cause. All proceeds will be going to The Birmingham Childrens Hospital. The drawing is of Richie McDonald, who is renowned and well known in the angling world and he very kindly autographed this piece. The drawing was due to be Auctioned at an event on Saturday 25th of October but due to certain circumstances it will now be moved to another event at a later date. I will keep you informed on the details when I get them. Drawing details: I was only given a small photograph to work from, I improvised a lot of the background too. This drawing was done on Winsor & Newton 250gsm Bristol board. Size A3 (42 x 29.7 cm) Drawn with Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils in various grades ranging from 2H to 6B. A 2B mechanical pencil (0.5mm) was also used. For blending, tortillions, blending stumps, cotton buds and tissues. Other items used – Faber Castel putty eraser, Staedtler Mars eraser. A blue background with glass shattering behind her. The idea of the shattered glass behind the girl came from a smashed photo frame that I had at home. This is drawn on A4 Canson Bristol board. I started out using Derwent Academy colour pencils (only had a small set of those when I started this). I got myself a large box of Derwent coloursoft pencils and finished it off using them. The girl is based on a photo by Alraunie-stock on Deviantart - http://fav.me/d1vebt7 Sun, 26 Jan 2014 15:15:23 -0500 Ice the dog http://shadowness.com/DeanoSidwell/ice-the-dog
Here's a recent drawing I did for someone of their pet dog called Ice. I was given a photo of the dog to use as a reference. It's an A4 sized drawing (21cm x 29.7cm), drawn on Canson Bristol board. I used various grades of pencil ranging from 8B to 5H, HB & 2B mechanical pencils (0.5 mm), normal and putty erasers. Blending stumps, tortillions, cotton buds and tissues were used for blending. I had a few ideas a while ago of things that I wanted to put into a dark, gothic style drawing, this is what I came up with. A woman in front of a round window, there's a crow on the window ledge outside. In the background, across a stretch of water, there's a cityscape. There's lightning in the night sky. Many thanks to lady-death-stock in Deviantart for allowing me the use of the photo I based the girl on - http://lady-death-stock.deviantart.com/art/NR7-75505584 , and thanks to peroni68 for the crow reference - http://fav.me/d4mldcr This is an A4 size drawing (29.7 x 21 cm) on 220gsm smooth cartridge paper. Many grades of pencil ranging from 5H to 6B, a 0.5mm mechanical pencil (2B), tortillions, cotton buds, tissues and erasers. I wanted to do something different than just a normal portrait, so this is the end result of what I came up with. All sorts going on here, there's his guitar on the metal studded wall, a keyboard hidden behind some clockwork and pipes and I drew Geddy as if it was a poster of him on the wall. The idea is inspired by their Time Machine tour they did a while ago. I will eventually draw the other two members of the band, with the same theme to match. The actual portrait of Geddy is only about 15cm x 16cm, less than half the size of A4. A4 (21cm x 29.7 cm) 220 gsm Winsor and Newton smooth cartridge paper. Various grades of pencil ranging up to 6B, HB & 2B mechanical pencils(0.5mm), tortillions, tissues, cotton buds and erasers. I decided to get my pastels out and started playing around with colours on a large piece of black card. The girl is roughly based on a stock photo by insomnia-stock on Deviantart - http://fav.me/d5hx122 Sun, 04 Nov 2012 06:39:38 -0500 Jessica Alba http://shadowness.com/DeanoSidwell/jessica-alba
A drawing of the Actress Jessica Alba. I actually started this last year but kept putting it on hold. I'm glad to have it completed at last. I used various grades of pencil ranging from 5H to 5B, HB & 2B mechanical pencils(0.5mm), blending stumps, tissues, cotton buds and erasers. Nothing special about the paper, just 130gsm cartridge paper. Size is A3(42x29.7cm), had to scan it in two halves and piece it back together. It's been some time since I've drawn an animal and it was nice to draw something a bit different for a change. I really enjoyed doing this. It's drawn on A3 (42 x 29.7cm) 250gsm extra smooth Bristol board. I used various grades of pencil ranging from 4H to 5B, HB and 2B mechanical pencils (0.5mm), blending stumps, tissues, cotton buds, putty and normal erasers. Lots of dark and black in this, I went through so much pencil lead doing it. It's a drawing I've been working on between doing some of my other larger drawings, finally got it finished. I based it on a photo reference from SaligiaStock on Deviantart - [link] I liked the contrast between the light and dark and thought it would make an interesting drawing. Size is A4 (210mm x 297mm) 220gsm smooth cartridge paper, HB and 2B 5mm mechanical pencil, various grades of pencil ranging from 4h to 5B, tissues, cotton buds, blending stumps and erasers. It's the Actress Rose McGowan. It's not as detailed as some of my later drawings but I thought you might like to see it. Drawn on size A4 paper using 0.5mm HB and 2B mechanical pencil, tissues, blending stumps, erasers. Sat, 21 Jan 2012 11:00:24 -0500
