This illustration has been reedited several times. Somehow I guess, that my illustrations never might come to an end.
So now Victoria looks a bit more vintage.
Welcome Victoria! Yeah, I prefer those old strategy games, less heroes, more armies, the more units the better
Inspired by games like 'Command and Conquer' and especially by the video of 'Deathstars - Death Dies Hard' I got the idea to this illustration. The vintage-edit is a reedit of the former version, I think it fits better ... at least to me, for I am not that 'colourful' (only wearing black clothing ).
The first sketch was a bit out of proportion and so on, but I use such sketches to figure out where to put what within Photoshop (the Liquify-Tool performs good actions when pulling the sketch the way it is meant to be). I used some photo references (of the band 'Deathstars' by example) and many custom Photoshop brushes (hair, texture on clothing and so on). When it comes to create technical stuff I often use some Photoshop 'effects' in a manner of overlay (fill at 0 percent), 'cause I can't paint so clean by hand according some reflexes.
And now up to you! Guess what Victoria's secret weapons might be ... :P
Nice to know:
The name 'Victoria' is a latin word. Her name tells the story, meaning victory/success, the victorious one. Many surnames also base on professions of the ancestors (e.g. 'Carpenter', 'Schmidt', 'Fortimbras/Armstrong'). And fornames also base on different stuff: 'Christian' for someone christian, 'Sarah' meaning duchess/princess, holy names of the Koran like Mohammed and so on.
After picking many references I created some rough drawings, which I used to illustrate this within Photoshop.
My usual technic is similar to airbrush. Masking the single elements (so I don't need to take that much care of the borders later on). Custom texture brushes increase the credibility. The original size would fit on a poster. The background is just a 'grunged' lookin' layer, some custom brushes of filth, rust and similar things.
