Jim Lee Replication

by Damien in Drawings: Cartooning

For this assignment we had to replicate an artist's piece as exact and accurate as possible. I chose to do a double spread Jim Lee did in one of the early Justice League issues of the reboot. In the past, I was always against doing something like this as I felt it was just copying, but now I see how you can learn a lot from it. I definitely had a lot of fun working on this, and I picked up on some techniques and handling things with a different thought process. Hopefully I'll see this reflect in my own pencils.

magnificent and great work .. I think you can learn a lot from trying to duplicate a masters work and add this later to your own work

Thank you. Yeah I totally agree. There's a lot of rendering techniques I picked up on from working on this, and how simple lines of suggestion can make something like rubble appear more real rather than fully detailing it.
