Shadowness - Cryistall ACCEPTING COMMISSIONS I am hard to know...and that keeps things simple on the outside when I am a beautiful chaos within. I am Shamanic by nature w... en Family Magic
My half of a trade with the amazing Her motto is GWYG "Get What You Give"; which I absolutely love. Thus I spent most the down time I've had in recent illness working on this. I know it's not perfect, and I have a hard time making a canine that doesn't look like a wolf, but I put a lot of effort into this. I wanted to show a more "realistic" fox family that still held that beautiful mysticism that surrounds them. This was done before I saw the new reference for Mearu but I am still oddly happy with it. Hope you like. <3 Fri, 20 Jan 2012 09:27:20 -0500 Call of the Moon
My half of a trade with the wonderfully talented of her character, Moondance. Trying some new things with coloring. Spent a lot more time on this than I had intended, but I think I'm happy with it. Thu, 03 Nov 2011 09:57:11 -0400 Fei-Lan - CONTEST Entry
Country of Origin: China Alternate Names: FEI-LIEN, FENG-BO, FENG-PO Rank / Role: Wind God Info: The Fei-Lian is a remarkable creature and is yet a little spoken of deity from Chinese Mythological tales. It is one of the only creatures to not have a set or defined species. Rather, the Fei-Lian exhibits five (5) distinct traits from five separate species. 1) The body and legs of a Stag 2) The head of a Sparrow 3) The white horns of a Bull 4) The tail of a Serpent 5) The golden spotted fur of a Leopard In some illustrations and stories of Fei-Lian, the beast is sometimes depicted with wings of a Raven, however Fei-Lian is much more commonly draw without wings. While the Fei-Lian is not carnivorous, it has also been depicted as a wingless dragon as it will hunt and kill anything that threatens it. It was said that wherever Fei-Lian went "its front hooves may touch Chaos, but its rear ones will touch Peace." Supposedly, Fei-Lian would seek out chaotic environments and just its presence would turn turmoil into calm. In Fei-Lian we see a lot of the classic elements of the Yin-Yang however, Fei-Lian was a trouble maker and also had a human form to which he called himself Feng-Bo and carried the wind around with him in a goatskin bag. Having once tried to team up with the Rain God to overthrow the legendary Yellow Emperor Huangdi, he was banished to the mountains after being defeated by the Emperors Daughter. Being ill of mind from falling into disfavor, Fei-Lian continued stirring up bad weather until another mythological figure; the celestial archer Hu-yi, (often simply called Yi) supposedly shot Fei-Lian with a sacred arrow. From Fei-Lian we get the origins of the endearing term "Old WindBag." Ah man I had fun doing this! I spent several days just researching this critter and am really rather proud of myself with how it came out! I decided to depict the Fei-Lian with wings because it is much rarer to see it depicted so and as with a lot of mythological creatures, much is left up to the interpreters vision as well. I really wanted to try to capture the duality of the Fei-Lian and I tried to incorporate that in some less then obvious ways. Such as the facing opposites, one being warm colors and the other cold. I also tried to represent the two factions of the society this creature would have existed to. The Reds, Golds, and Purples are colors often used to represent the "high class" or royalty while the blacks, greens and browns are often associated with the "lower class" or common people. There is some of each color in each of the directionally opposite Fei-Lians. I also wanted to try to touch on the one factor of the Fei-Lian which really made me curious about the creature; "entering chaos and leaving peace" behind bit, which also denotes further meaning in the leaping forward Fei-Lian to represent the unbalance and chaos while it leaves behind it an equally enthusiastic peace. Sooooooooooo, all that said, this is my entry for Round 2 of ~SagomeKitsune124's Tournament Contest which you can read more about here: Round 1 Entry was: All drawn and textured by hand, color editing was done in CS3 while the colors used came from a pair of 3D Bryce renders I had made; one for chaos and one for peace, having spent 6 hours per render. This Griffin kicked my butt and was a welcomed challenge for me. I finally got it to the point where I was really happy with it with just couldn't mess with it anymore. I had originally thought of doing some color to this, but I couldn't bring myself to risk ruining it. This Griffin was also very good practice for an upcoming contest piece featuring a Chinese Mythological beasty who bares a striking resemblance. 0.o I am horribly sorry I destroyed his feet though! :/ But Yay! for my first ever griffin. <3 Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to draw something totally out of the norm for me and I hope you like it! Creature ref: Tue, 18 Oct 2011 22:18:48 -0400 Moon Medicine Wolf
I drew this for one of the neighborhood girls who moved away last Saturday. I think she is 9? I have become somewhat known around here, and all the kids come to my yard to play because they know they are safe here and usually get to see and play with my dogs; and the ferrets on occasion. Emily wanted something to remember "Mrs. Wolf" by for when she moved, and thus, this was the result. Moon Medicine Wolf is very special to me. I hope he is just as special to her. Done with 0.5mm mechanical pencil and Sharpie fine tip marker. I was and still am shocked at how few gift arts she has received and just how little her work is noticed. So...I have fought through my depressions and pains for two straight days and finally produced, this. I am rather happy with it, and I hope you like it to hun. I wanted something to not only show how amazingly beautiful her Alter is, but something that captured the emotions I feel from her, and the irony is I finished this about 30 minutes ago, long before I saw and read this: I truly hope this helps a little bit, love. Even if it seems there is no one out there on your side, know I am here, and your thoughts and feelings are far from invisible to me. Sat, 17 Sep 2011 02:52:36 -0400 AMT Giraffe
AMT = Animal Medicine Tribal This is a gift for a former co-worker of mine who has an amazingly huge heart and has been helping me a lot as of late with my pain and medical woes. I planed to do a gift for him as a thank you and almost regretted the idea when he told me his favorite animal was a Giraffe! Talk about totally different anatomy then I am used to! I actually quite enjoyed this though, and am thinking on opening up commissions for these. I've been itching to get back into tribals anyway. And yes, this was totally done by hand using German ink and Copic marker. Anyway, my first Giraffe; tribal no less! If you're interested in getting your own AMT, note me!
