I have a macbook and it runs CS3 very well -- and i've been using ever since the creation of S7 to do all the stuff that i did. tell him to get at least 1.25GB RAM or it won't run.
of course, a macbook pro is cooler and much more performant, especially since they just released a new model for the same price. but your friend would probably enjoy his macbook if he really wants that monitor.
i'd go for a macbook pro, but if he doesn't really need that much power, let him get the macbook and enjoy his monitor with it. =]
Jun 24th, 2007Cool! great to know that a macbook can run CS3. Considering you did this WHOLE site thats great.
And yeah he isn't sure he wants all the features, hes a very on the fence kid who can't make a choice.
I've been telling him that yet He still doesn't know. But thats just how he is.
Jun 24th, 2007hmm.. looks like he should also ask the people at the apple store when he goes to get his mac. =]
Jun 24th, 2007well i'm that person who storyoftherealms was talking about. There's a few things about this that are complicated see i can easily get a mbp so thats something that makes me want one since it would be up to date longer. But theres a couple things that i like the macbook for, like the magnet latch, smaller size, and the fact that there prolly more durable. And an extra screen is'nt that important to me it was just something that i can rely on if i find the need.
Jun 25th, 2007the thing is that macbook and macbook pro are both great choices. if you only have 2,000, then i think you should go with the macbook and get extra RAM and a monitor.
if you like the macbook pro and don't think you need anything else, then go with it -- it's uber sexy, performant and has already all the power and RAM you need. it's like a all-in-one package. the 15 inches is 2,000 and has already 2GB RAM.
well i thank all of you guys for the support and i have finally decided to get a mid-configered macbook, and i'm gona get applecare, a usb modem (stupid dialup), a nice case (any good ones?) and mabye a mouse. I'm gona be going to the city to a place called westworld computers and buying all that July 7. Also is there anything else that's really useful to get?
Jun 26th, 2007a 23' cinema! hehe just kidding.
external harddrive is really nice. don't forget the extra RAM, or most applications can run really slowly and you can't multi-task well.
july 7 is the launch of S7 btw. ;)
i might accually get a bigger display later on but it's not that important, and i'm going to try it with 1gb and then upgrade later on when it needs it. But i really want to get high speed and airport extreme after my macbook is bought cause dialup sucks (and i live in the country so high speed is expensive) (especially in canada)
Jun 26th, 2007you might do just fine with 1gb ram. where in canada do you live?

Jun 26th, 2007i need ur help again but its a bit differant this time around c i've been thinking cause at the end of july i would have 3000, enough to get a mac pro. The problem is i don't really need its power (yet) and i don't really need portability (yet) but 4 me its hard to save up 3000 so what would be the smarter thing to buy if u did'nt need either one but want one or the other. I can handle waiting (mabye) and i can buy a notebook when i need it, but it would be harder to buy a mac pro later. What do u think?

Now, of course this is something my friend wants to know, so I shall ask the Apple owners. You see my friend has about 2000-3000$ and wants to get a mac. now either he can get a macbook and a dell monitor (larger screen) or he can get a macbook pro. Now see heres the thing, he says he's only going to be using iLife, the internet and possibly some coding.
Jun 23rd, 2007Whats the verdict?
Next thing, (my own question) is can a Macbook run Creative Suite CS3 fine? As I don't want to spend 2000$ on a Macbook Pro. If not, then I shall have to buy that.
Verdict on this?
