Jun 12thA lot of pain and injustice is caused by anger and I feel as if I’m obliged to make artwork that reflects ideas about the danger of it and it’s destructive nature. I’m beginning to discover some of the applications “art” can have in transmitting ideas across cultural boundaries and language barriers. My most recent and serious body of work deals with partisanship, polarization and anger, on both an economic and individual level. I firmly believe that in order to start a revolution, the revolution must first start in yourself. We should all strive to become more compassionate and balanced human beings if we wish to see the world turn around. Besides, “Generosity is more fun” -Bob Thurman (this is what I recite whenever I want to be angry at someone, it helps me to calm down and act right) In general I’m drawn to the complexities of human experience and emotion, and am excited by the way that images of animals can make us feel and how they can be used to represent us. I also love a good battle of “good vs. evil” and you can often find me referencing fairy tales or children’s stories. I can’t bring myself to lie about the positive impact that these stories have had on me. I hope I am able to express in my art the dignity that I feel is so often denied them (As a fellow Peter S. Bautista is a Fine Arts major in Advertising student of Bulacan State University who has exemplified his skills in different fields. He has topped visual arts competitions like the 4th Cocolife Colors of Life Student Visual Arts Competition – Runner up (College category), 2011 National Student Art Competition (Art Petron) – Grand Prize (T-shirt design) and Semifinalist (Painting category), 43rd Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC) – 5th honorable mention, 2010 Metrobank Art Design Excellence (MADE) – Semifinalist, and, a grandprize winner in the 1st Bulacan State University Painting Contest. Aside from his artistic excellence, Batista has contributed in BulSU’s official student publicaton, Pacesetter, as a member for 3 years and the Art Director for his last year. He has won Regional and Luzonwide press competitions in editorial cartooning and comic strip drawing.

Dec 11thI have been creating "on again, off again" for most of my life. I know a little about a lot and as a result have yet to master anything. I prefer to work in colored pencils and my muses are mythology and nature. I am rediscovering my creativity; it really is like breathing (its that important). So, the art here I create in celebration of self, for myself; its my way of healing. Perhaps once I reach the point where I was "back then" I will have the confidence to seek commissions or commercial success with my art. In the meantime, I welcome criticisms as well as glowing reviews; please be generous in your honesty.

Nov 20thMy name is Rick Corbett. I am a graphite and colored pencil portrait artist. I am a self-taught artist. I am also a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired by people, textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. My drawings take me on an artistic journey of self discovery. I feel my soul awaken when I draw. GOD has given me a gift and it's a gift I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's a gift I hope to use to capture the beauty that's in this World. I don't want my drawings to simply be pictures drawn on pieces of paper - I want my drawings to be a celebration of life. My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. People trul inspire me. I love to learn about people, I love to learn backgrounds, traditions, and cultures. I think this is why I became a portrait artist, it just seemed natural to me. I believe that every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. I thank GOD everyday for the gift HE has given me.
