7Shadows - Daily Features!
Making it to the Daily Features is a big deal. Your artwork is on the front page for a while and stays there.

Make no mistake, at Shadowness, we're extremely selective and it's not random that your piece gets chosen. We base our choices mostly on our guts, but also on the number of favorites, and we look at who actually faved your artwork.

Just today, I've decided to immortalize this award and give you a little something more than being better exposed on the community. We give you Daily Feature awards.

What is it? It's an award that comes with a custom award message and a button that you can place on your Websites and that you can wear proudly. Your portfolio also gets updated with the list of awards that you receive.

Hopefully now you can feel how proud we are of featuring your artworks and highlighting your greatest efforts. Good luck if you haven't made it yet! ;)

7Shadows - Sexy Search
Search has gotten sexier. I was listening to your suggestions:

Matt wanted to see numbers across the posts/portfolios/groups. (this was the hardest part)
Vex wanted to see newest, top favorites etc. while browsing groups
And uhmm... Meng wanted to be able to search across several keywords -- meaning if you search "sexy ness", it will both search "sexy" and "ness" combined.

7Shadows - Comments Reply!
I'm pretty happy about the comments reply. I wanted it uncluttered and very clean. The comments reply system lets you reply to a specific person and stick to only a 1-level threading, which means it won't do endless spacing loops that can make it look cluttered.

But what about knowing who replied to who without those endless spacing loops? Well, I made it so that when you reply, you specify the person you're replying to, making it easy to follow the conversations!

Also, comments replies notify both the author of the item and the author of the comment it's replying to -- if they're not the same person and of course, in a very spamless way explained in the notifications page.

No other site is doing it this way! Enjoy and leave me comments. thank you, come again.

7Shadows - Groups get albums!
This will be truly interesting for fan-groups and such.

Once uploaded in a group, it will not appear in your albums. It is important to note that you are not not claiming authorship if it unless specified. Most group items will be most likely public properties and can be posted with no rights reserved.

Yep! It's vbulletin...

haha, bad joke. NO seriously, I know a lot wouldn't expect but we got forums for the groups! And it's gonna work even better than the traditional ones!

And I got the permalink working for forums. So, your topic will be /GroupName/TopicName_Like_This_Instead_Of_ID

It's more human-readable. And google-readable too. ;)

7Shadows - Update: Your Portfolio Privacy Part 1
So, if someone is not your friend or doesn't have have an account, how should your Portfolio look? Not as personal of course!

I've decided to limit the viewing of Eye to Arts posted only. No comments, groups joined and whatnot. Don't be afraid to have your boss see things they shouldn't see on your portfolio.

It should be clear and simple and right to the content they should be able and WANT to see.

As a note, if you don't want your personal photos to show up in your Portfolio menu, I suggest having your portfolio set to friends only.

7Shadows - Update Albums and Descriptions
As you may have noticed, I've added a new menu in "Home" called albums where you can browse albums from you and your friends.

Additionally, you have a "organize" link from there where I added a "Edit Description". Looks like it's time to add some textual content on in your albums!

7Shadows - Update: Organize your albums!
The much awaited update that will make easy to organize our Portfolio menu and albums the way we want it.

It's quite straightforward, you can edit the album names by editing the fields and clicking on "Update albums" on the bottom of the page.

What about moving stuff around? Well, simply click on any thumbnail, select or create a new album to move to and voila!

7Shadows - Update: Flag system
We've experienced many issues in the past regarding the content on Shadowness. To fix that, I worked on a comprehensive flag system.

Anyone registered can flag for the above 4 reasons. Once flagged, flags are being listed by pressing the "flagged" button. Sneaky users can access flagged items by going to this address: /explore/flagged

Flags will notify admins of it. Also, if user wants to cancel his flagging, he can do so by clicking cancel.

For admins: They can change the privacy to "Private" if flagging is judged relevant. In private mode, it will be no shown anywhere public. Also, for admins only, there is a "Flagged" section where admins can keep track of flagged items.

We happen to keep track of every flagging and admins changing privacy by mistakes or for personal reasons should that happen.

Yep, we wanna do it right this time. Got suggestions? Let me know.

7Shadows - Update: Next and Back Navigation
Hey guys,

Here's a cool update when you browse the Featured and Newest section. It'll keep track of your next and previous items so you can easily navigate through them in addition to album navigation.

I tried hard to get it work for Most comments and other stuff, but it won't be so easy and would be too intensive for the system to calculate that. Might happen in the future. ;)

With Ajax, you can make wonders. Now, you won't have to remember your albums anymore... as jessie points out.

7Shadows - Update: Rating and New view layout!
Hey guys,

This was a tough update. I was bothered by the last view layout for a bunch a good reason:

1) Thumbnail preview was too small.
2) 2 clicks to get original view.
3) Not fit for more textual items such as journal-oriented.
4) It gets uneven when there are a lot of comments, making the right side way too heavy compared to the rest.

Hope you like the new change as it was a hard update. It's now more portfolio-oriented. ;)

Also, enjoy the new rating system! Got it coded from scratch using javascript+ajax+php. Not sure if it's the best way, but was fun!

7Shadows - Update: What are you doing?
Hey beta folks, I have changed the "What are you doing" system so now it goes right to the eye feature when you update it on the fly from your portfolio page.

Also, when you update your profile through the /edit, it's noted in the eye also. No worries about spam because it's only noted once a day.

Yah, that was neat adding / editing using edit-in-place AJAX. Should be useful later on for admins.

Yep, it's a coming soon feature for most titles / descriptions just like on Flickr.

I brought the slideshow feature for you folks. It's based on your albums / portfolio menu. You can toggle it to turn it on/off.
